I think the solo in "The Gates of Babylon" is better/catchier than on stargazer..... not taking anything away from either of the songs

Has to be Gates Of Babylon without a doubt for me. This song has it all - a great eastern feel, good orchestration, excellent lyrics and superb performances from all parties.

Don't get me wrong Stargazer is an excellent song too but it strikes me as being a little self indulgent and to finish it's story it has to be paired with self-indulgent track 2 Light in the Black which again is a good song but Gates Of Babylon for me just takes the lead.

Good melody, structure, story and doesn't out-stay its welcome.

I don't think Gates Of Babylon is an "epic". The only other "epic" Rainbow track that could compete with Stargazer is Light In The Black.

I think Dio and Blackmore put on a stronger showing for Gates in a number of parts however as most will say Stargazer is an epic with supreme Consistancy and Lyrics/Singing that would make a Deaf man weep.

both songs are amazing, but the magic in Stargazer is so much stronger, and the delivery of the song is so much more epic.

I voted for Gates Of Babylon thats my favorite song by Rainbow , Stargazer is also a master peace they both are but i prefer Babylon! Man both songs are brilliant pure magic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

STARGAZER....the best heavy metal song ever written...by miles..and it should be included IN EVERY DIO GIG but unfortunately few guitarists have the abiltiy to complete the middle section..it is often left out..

I love both of these songs. But my FAVORITE has to be Stargazer no question about it. Dio's voice is brilliant and Ritchie Blackmore's guitar playing speaks for itself.
