This is from Blacksabbath.com
The current lineup of Black Sabbath is:
Ronnie James Dio - Vocals
Tony Iommi - Guitar
Geezer Butler - Bass
Vinny Appice - Drums
Scott Warren - Keyboards
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The history:
There have been many people in Black Sabbath over the 30+ years of the band's history. Some folks think the band died in 1979 when Ozzy was fired. That's too bad, because there's a lot of music that's extremely good in the intervening years of the band before Ozzy returned in the late 90's.
There were a total of 30 official members of Sabbath and 1 unofficial member. If Sabbth's official site recognizes these people as members of sabbath and prominently displays them, why is it ureasonable to ask the rock hall to do the same? _________________ Check out Al Diamond Phillips/Nevermet on the web

It's not that I don't recognise these people as members of Sabbath but 30 members is just unreasonable.
There are a lot of people I wouldn't include under any circumstances but if the hall had to include post-Ozzy members then a list like this would be appropriate:
Ozzy Osbourne
Tony Iommi
Geezer Butler
Bill Ward
Ronnie James Dio
Geff Nichoolls
Vinny Appice
Ian Gillan
Glenn Hughes
Eric Singer
Tony Martin
Cozy Powell
Neil Murray
I don't think Donato, Keel, Walker, Rondellini etc. necessary deserve a place. Not because of their musicianship but because they're not prominent members in the Sabbath history. Many of their members never even released anything with the band. |
