This CD Rocks from start to finish. It brings back a lot of cool memories of when i first started listening to Dio and went out and bought everything I could find. The only problem I have is that its not enough. I felt they should have made it a complete box set with everything, including any tracks that may not have made the original albums. Dio has never struck me as the kind of writer that puts together just enough material to fill an album. I'm sure ther are some unreleased songs out there somewhere. Like I said this CD Rocks, I just wish there was more to it. _________________ Check out Al Diamond Phillips/Nevermet on the web

Tony Iommi publically denies there being any material around in the vaults saying basically 'there was pieces of incomplete material but nothing solid' (which I find VERY VERY strange indeed) which was his reasoning in recording new material for the fans with RJD (aka if they didnt there would be hardly any interest for the CD at all)
Anyway, it was Iommi's creative control over what and if anything went onto the CD, I think Ronnie was only involved in the creation of the new tracks and maybe picking out a few choices of tracks which he liked...
Personally I think it's a complete injustice that his albums never got the same treatment/hailing that the first albums got but then again it's 8 albums against 3 and some would argue that theres not enough RJD material to justify a boxset but really they could have if they wanted it badly enough
HEAVEN AND HELL
MOB RULES
DEHUMANIZER *with bonus tracks: TV Crimes/Time Machine (alt)
LIVE EVIL
LIVE AT HAMMERSMITH (could have made its 'ONLY' release here)
as well as the 3 new recorded tracks and several old live b'sides from the singles at the time
I dunno how many there were/what they were, can anyone help me out? but I know theres a 20 minute version of Heaven And Hell floating around and thats enough to make any Sabs fan drool!
Eitherway it didnt fall through and (I dont know about any one else) but this compliation album leaves this Ronnie James Dio fan with an injustice and a bitter taste in my mouth
Justifying Sharon Osbournes statement: There is only ONE Black Sabbath
and indirectly it just seems that Tony Iommi is proving her right... |

I in another post that the band used strippers to help decide which songs would go on the album Heaven and Hell. I dont know if thats just legend, or if it is true, but if it is then that would lead one to beleive that there were songs that didnt make the album. I just dont see a band like Sabbath barely making the cut with the amount of songs needed for an album. There has to be more they just arent sharing them. Maybe that is the way it happened, it just seems odd. _________________ Check out Al Diamond Phillips/Nevermet on the web

Okay some of you people that know everything...(HM), are there any numbers out on this album?
For me it was just to get the new stuff and support the band because I already have everything on it, as I'm sure everyone reading this does as well.
Love The Devil Cried, don't love Shadow of the Wind, like Ear in the Wall. _________________ "...you were a fool but that's cool, it's alright!" |

I think the story you must have heard has either been picked up wrong or twisted but I heard they played some songs from the CD to 'dancers' to judge the reactions to the music to then decide which ones they'd go onto play LIVE
not keep on the record hope this helps you
Eitherway I agree Tony MUST be keeping material hushed up and if so I think its really unfair to have BASICALLY a 3/4 year reign in the band represented so poorly. |

| Would everyone please stop bitching ALL THE FREAKING TIME???? No matter what is posted on this forum, you guys find someway to complain about it whether it be about Dio opening for Metallica, or Ozzy being more popular and more well known then Dio, or whatever it is. You guys just bitch, bitch, bitch! Why not just be happy there is a Dio Years CD??? What's the point of complaining about it??? I'm one of Ronnie's biggest fans, but i've come to terms with the fact that many people dismiss his time with Sabbath....BUT WHO CARES???? Just be happy knowing that they are missing out on some great music. So what if Ozzy is more well known then Dio??? WHO CARES???? Just be happy that Ronnie's been around for so long and made such wonderful music!!!! Seriously....if you don't like the Dio Years CD, DON'T BUY IT. Download the new songs or something. Just try and be satisfied with Dio's place in the music world. |

God thats scary. My all time favorite band letting people who think bands like Warrant and Trixter are cool decide their songs for them.
Then again they were all heavily into drugs, and Im sure the strippers were pretty hot... _________________ http://www.myspace.com/tcbk273
