I love the older Schenker stuff, and the first couple albums with Paul Chapman were also excellent. But the Walk On Water is really a very strong album (the first Schenker reunion album). Some of the heaviest and strongest melodic content of any of their albums every! I recommend it highly. There are Schenker leads there that are better than anything he's ever done. Sharks and Covenant were not as strong as that, but still pretty good. _________________ Bass guitarists hold it all together. |

I should check thoughs out, i've only heard three LP's and i don't even remember the names of the two i didn't dig, but Force It has always been a HUGE influence on my taste in leads, High Flyer is one i want played at my funeral. One of the ones i didn't dig they had a cover pic of them standing next to gas pumps in a gas station. _________________ GUITARGOD |

The one on the gas station was the first one without Schenker, which I actually liked pretty well. Force It is such a heavy metal classic, with so many hard rock riffs and hooks it's just ridiculous. High Flyer is just amazing, tone-wise and songwriting too. I always thought UFO had some of the smartest, leanest hard rock songs in the biz. Of course you can't do better than to just get UFO - Strangers In The Night, which is a live concert of all their best stuff up to Schenker's exit.
The first Schenker solo album was pretty damned good too, with Simon Phillips on drums. The second one with Cozy Powel was classic too. _________________ Bass guitarists hold it all together. |

Any of you guys know this song...NON-Schenker...but bloody great song!Paul Chapman and Neil Carter on Guitars it was on UFO - The Wild, The Willing And The Innocent-1981
Profession Of Violence
Hey babe what we gonna do
No look behind me glances
Straight time this time
We'll take our chances
Darling it's been so long
Every lonely hour
What the sinner pulls the trigger
And the world turns sour
(1)Whisper in the wind
Locked in silence
Profession of violence
Whisper on the wind
Locked in silence
Profession of violence
Try to pick up the pieces
Maybe move away
But the laughter
Was only yesterday
Down the halls of justice
The echoes never fade
Notches on my gun
Another debt is paid
(1) Repeat

That album had a lot of really great songwriting on it. I do love "Let It Roll" and just recorded it from my LP to my minidisc player. _________________ Bass guitarists hold it all together. |

UFO NewsUFO drummer Andy Parker, who broke his ankle in February, has posted the following message on his web site:
"I thought that it's about time that I let you know what's going on with me, as I haven't sent an update since my accident.
"First off I would like to thank all of you who turned out to see the band on the last leg of the tour. By all accounts you did them proud, I am just sorry that I could not be there myself. I really missed seeing you all.
"My second thank you, and it's a big one, goes to Mr. Simon Wright [DIO, ex-AC/DC], who, at a moment's notice and with nary a thought for his own personal safety, jumped in (with both feet) to fill the gap left by yours truly. Thanks a lot mate! I owe you one — or two! My heartfelt thanks also go to everyone who so kindly sent me get well messages. Dan McDonald in Canada, Russ in Connecticut, the two Brians somewhere in the USA, Attila in Vancouver, Salvatore in Malta, Nom and Liz in Leeds and any one else that I might have missed. THANK YOU SOOO MUCH. It really meant a lot to me.
"Finally, I met with Dr. Louden, my orthopaedic surgeon, yesterday and everything is great. This means that I will be back behind the drum kit for the upcoming UFO shows in June and July. WOOOO-HOOOO! Can't wait! And I hope that I will get to see some of you in person.
"Until then please take care, and in the immortal words of Mr. Mogg. 'Keep on rockin'."
UFO's new album, "The Monkey Puzzle", came out in September via SPV Records. The follow-up to 2004's "You Are Here" was recorded at Area 51 Studios with producer Tommy Newton, who also worked with the band on their last CD and who recorded the material for the band's "Showtime" live album.
UFO's "Showtime" live CD/DVD was recorded at Pumpwerk in Wilhelmshaven, Germany on May 13, 2005. |

I saw The Black Crowes open for MSG back in '90 (at the Trocodero in Philly), and the Crowes kicked their asses.
I guess "young & hungry" beats "old & bloated"... kind of like when Sabbath had Van Halen open for them back in the day.
In all due respect, UFO DEFINITELY had some awesome moments in rock history. |
Very fair comments, however Mogg's voice has vastly improved with age, and that "UFO sound" is as distinctive today as it was 30 years ago.
Vinnie Moore has stepped into, and surpassed, Schenker's shoes much in the same way "Tonka" Chapman did on "SITN"

This is what Mogg does best, a truely phenominal song and a perfect album closer. TWTWATI is a superb album, the title track is awesome.
