Yeah, it's such a sad story, poor "uncle" Ritchie
I read it on an interview to Bob Daisley on the Hard'n'Heavy magazine "Rock Hard"...
Magic!

| It would have been even better if they managed to smuggle him out successfully. |

It was 1 DAY and 3 hours he was late!
The city was Vienna and thats reason why RJD said "We give a massage to the World-except of AUSTRIA-that itīs not dead and long live Rock&Roll!"
The legend says, that securities were rude to fans and Ritchie gave them a beer-shower-so it started.
And I think this way the story is more remarkable! _________________ No more night-Iīve seen the light

One other fact:Blackmore got 5000 pounds penalty and was banned.
The first time he was allowed to visit Austria again was on the Perfect Stranger-tour!
The gouvernment pardoned him to play a show in the same hall.
Funny isnīt it? _________________ No more night-Iīve seen the light

i recently picked up a bunch of classic rock dvds... the zeppelin, hendrix, the dio 'we rock,' and the deep purple in munich '77...
i used to be a huge fan of zeppelin and hendrix...
now... after having seen all 4 of these offerings... i would take either the 'we rock' or the 'live in munich' singly over both the zep and the hendrix...
i think it's that hendrix is too blues-based, and zep is too folk-blues...
and if i had to pick just one offering, it would be the live in munich '77... blackmore may not quite have the chops of jimmy page, but the entire concert is simply better - according to my tastes - than the zeppelin or the hendrix...
same with the 'we rock'... it blows away the zep and hendrix...
i don't know if this is going to get me crucified - panning zep and hendrix both - but it is what i think...
dio is the best rock singer of all time...
and blackmore is a much better guitarist than i had ever given him credit for... his overall creativity is higher than either jimmy page or jimi hendrix...
add cozy powell, david stone, and bob daisley into the mix and that rainbow in munich '77 is a must have...
oh... also... check out the deep purple '70-'72 dvd... it was there... before i had heard any of the other 4 dvd offerings listed above... that i realized blackmore was a great player...
it's strange how zep got all of the buzz in '77... rainbow was better... and it took me until now to realize that... |
