| it bothers me because you are right IronMan, looks mean nothing to me ,that is why it bothers me to see that my friends will always take the guys with long hair as bad guys without giving them a chance(they only see him on the outside)which i think is so wrong but they just don't listen to my point of veiw. |

| You are so right. I remember going to not only Dio concerts but The Scorpions, Iron Maiden, The Rolling Stones , ect seeing the guys with the Jesus amps in the parking lots, on the sidewalks, at the arena doors preaching against rock n roll to save ourselves. But I doubt if any band will tour the middle east much, especially now since brainwashed kids use huge gatherings of innocent people to attempt to make a statement by killing them. Dio is an American and that makes him and his fans a target. A shame what Bush has made us with his unwinnable war. |

You don't know much about the Middle East ...Metal bands tour there all the time!
Check the Iron Maiden topic in general chat.
PS...There is 1000s of Americans in the Middle East and they are not soldiers...they are just normal folks like you and I.
Edit..The Middle East is just not Iraq...the area is huge. |

I havent been to a metal show since maybe 1989, more or less because for now at least rock is dead. And that does suck. San Francisco for the most part is vastly outnumbered by hip-hop stations on the radio. I have satalite radio because of this. There was a time when here in the San Francisco area we had a great rock/ metal show maybe 3-5 times a month, selling out whole stadiums , ( I miss thoes Day on the Green shows ) but I do know 3 acts that were slated to play the middle east over the past 3 years that canceled because it just wasnt safe. Madonna was supposed to perform in Beruit, Janet Jackson was supposed to play in Tel Aviv and The Rolling Stones were supposed to play. all acts scraped cities because of war tensions. Now these arent metal acts but they do draw huge crowds. Personally I believe it would do the middle east good to have quality entertainment play concerts there and who knows maybe Dio will add that section of the world to his next tour. Thoes people are starved for top notch productions that concerts bring.
Im sorry for not knowing about the american acts that play there " all the time " |

Is the Middle East safe? Compared to what? Downtown LA in the middle of the night? (Try getting out of there alive if you can!) My Dad hated guys with long hair when I was a kid, and he's not even Muslim (ha ha).
But seriously, I have great respect for bands that tour some of the less known places in the world. When the Police did their first major tour they went to Egypt, Israel and all over the middle east, partly because Stuart Copelands Dad had been an embassy official there. That was the first time anybody had done that, and it meant a lot to the people there.
Hats off to any band who remembers that rock fans don't just live in the USA and Europe! |
