I bought Images & Words and Score: 20th Aniversary World Tour the other week after seeing In The Name Of God live at the Budokan and they rock.
I'm quite excited about their new album and i might go and by Awake and Metropolis Part 2 as they're meant to be two of their best.

They're a hell of a live band if Score's anything to go by. My dad quite likes them aswell so maybe I could go to see them with him one day (won't have to pay for tickets ). I'm sure they'll be around for a while. |

I like DT a lot!
To be honest I don't have any album by them, but I have a lot of songs by them and I like 'em so much!!!
I'll see them in concert at Gods Of Metal on 3rd of June (in Milan) together with Heaven And Hell...
Magic!

Without doubt the greatest prog metal band in existence!!!!!!!!!!
A 20 year career with just 8 studio albums to their name speaks volumes for this bands stature.
I've been luck enough to see them 3 times, hopefully the next tour will swing slightly closer to home.

Sorry to spoil the buzz, lads, but I just can't get into their music, it's good stuff and the talent is definatly there but I just don't see that the great big deal is about them. I cannot even name a song I like by them. I'm not saying I hate them or think they're shit or anything.
Just not the kind of music that gets to me, I just don't know why. |

I'm a big Dream Theater fan. You'd think the original poster would at least spell the band name right, being such a big fan an all.
Coop - Out of curiosity, which is the CD of theirs that you heard?
I think Awake and Scenes From A Memory are their best, Images & Words close behind. All their cd's have their merits, though, except for the 1989 debut with the first singer. He was awful! |

The CD was Awake. I listened to it many times trying to get to like it, but I couldn't. the strange thing is that I couldn't place exactly what I didn't like.
(And I don't like to be a dick, but I will - as far as I'm concerned theatre is correct ) _________________ Along Came A Spider..... |

I can understand why some people can't get into Dream Theater.
The music is very "progressive orientated" and the lengthy instrumental passages can be repetitive sounding.
I did a compilation for a friend not so long ago, and he said it was "very laid back"
???????????????????????????????????????
James LaBrie's vocals are always the high point for me, such a "pure voice", although I'll admit he's better sounding studio to live.

I bought the Score dvd the other day and love it! I can understand why some people can't get into them. They can get out into left field sometimes but they are so fun to watch. _________________

When I first listened to Dream Theater, I didn't like the music either, I needed time to understand the music. I think if you are musical and take the time (it's time to take the time) to listen to it enough, then you will get into this great music. _________________ You're Breathless, ready to burn
