Great news, breathless. I haven't been able to get into Octavarium much, but I really enjoyed the previous one. |

Well, Octavarium is really worth the money, so if I were you I would buy it before Systematic Chaos comes out! _________________ You're Breathless, ready to burn

Octavarium took some time to grow onme, like quite a few other albums over the decades, but no doubt I'll be buy Systematic Chaos when it hits the shleves.

I have said it before, and I will say it again... Dream Theater ROCKS!
Everytime I listen to 'A Change of Seasons' for 23:09 minutes, I feel that I have contributed with something good to my life.
And just to add to the conversation, my favorite album is 'Train of Thought'.
I'm sick of all
You hypocrites
Holding me at bay
And I don't need
Your sympathy
To get me through the day |

"ACOS" is quite phenominal, but for a "mega-track", I prefer "Octavarium". It just seems to "flow" slightly more seemleesly.

Three of the best mega-tracks ever written have just been mentioned, but as with ACOS, 6DoIT doesn't really flow from start to finish.

I've got it. I just haven't gotten much out of it. It's probably my least favorite, along with FII. I don't count WDADU, but if I did, that'd be my least favorite. |

I don't have FII and WDADU, are they any good?
I heard FII is more commercial and WDADU is without James LaBrie. _________________ You're Breathless, ready to burn

WDADU is indeed without James Labrie. The first vocalist was Charles Dominici (sp?), and he's not very good. The quality of the recording itself is also sub-par. I bought the cd when it was allegedly "remastered" a few years ago, and I thought it sounded so horrible I returned it.
FII has some good songs, but a lot of it comes across as DT-lite. As if they were conciously trying not to indulge their prog-tendencies. There are come cool songs, though, so I'd say its definitely worth getting if you are a DT fan. I like it better than Octavarium, but thats me. I just can't recommend WDADU. Stay clear of that one. |

The fact they can write a song that length and people will happily listen to it from start to finish proves they're great songwriters in my opinion.
Fantastic track by the way. |
