From Ozzy.com:
THIS YEAR'S GROUND-BREAKING OZZFEST PROUDLY ANNOUNCES
LAMB OF GOD, HATEBREED AND LORDI
AS AMONG THE FIRST ARTISTS
TO LEAD THE CHARGE WITH OZZY OSBOURNE
AT THIS SUMMER'S HISTORIC
"FREEFEST"
"Come join us," said OZZY and SHARON OSBOURNE February 6 at the Los Angeles press conference to unveil the bombshell: this year's 12th annual OZZFEST will be known as "FreeFest." OZZY and SHARON's statement--with tour producer LIVE NATION--was an invitation for other artists to join OZZY by performing for free, thus making the tickets to the summer's premiere touring concert festival entirely free for fans.
This bold invitation to perform in front of tens of thousands of frenzied rock kids has already been accepted by such artists as Lamb of God, Hatebreed and cutting-edge Finnish act Lordi, who will lead the charge with OZZY in this historic move that redefines a concert industry marred by rising ticket prices. Lamb of God and Lordi will perform on the main stage with OZZY, while Hatebreed will headline OZZFEST's reliably down and dirty second stage with Mondo Generator, Ankla, Circus Diablo, Nile and The Showdown. These are only the first artists who have stepped forward to be part of this ground-breaking touring extravaganza, with more artists to be announced in the coming weeks for the main and second stages.
The 24-city earth-pounding OZZFEST will now launch July 12 in Seattle, WA at the White River Amphitheatre. The tour was originally announced to start July 7 in Southern California but had to be moved to accommodate the extension of OZZY's European tour. OZZFEST will also hit Seattle, WA, George, WA, Sacramento, CA, Mountain View, CA, Devore, CA, Phoenix, AZ, Albuquerque, NM, Denver, CO, Kansas City, MO, Dallas, TX, San Antonio, TX, St. Louis, MO, Columbus, OH, Tinley Park, IL, East Troy, WI, Indianapolis, IN, Holmdel, NJ, Hartford, CT, Boston, MA, Philadelphia, PA, Pittsburgh, PA, Detroit, MI, Charlotte, NC and West Palm Beach, FL.
As OZZFEST's founder and namesake, OZZY will make his triumphant return to the headlining position on this year's mainstage after surprising fans last year by performing on the second stage at a handful of dates. Audiences can expect the Prince of Darkness to unveil new songs from his forthcoming studio album (release date TBA), OZZY's first disc of new material since 2001.
To gain entry into this year's OZZFEST, fans will go to www.ozzfest.com or www.livenation.com to find links that will direct them to special sponsor sites where tickets can be secured. Select sponsors will have a unique opportunity to engage fans one-on-one utilizing one of music's best known brands. Tickets will be available for download on June 12. Stay tuned to www.ozzfest.com and www.livenation.com in the coming weeks for more ticketing information. _________________ Along Came A Spider..... |

Check out Ozzy.com.
It's been redesigned for the release of the new Ozzy album - you can move around this cool room and holding the mouse over different things in the background plays short samples of new songs!!
It's a REALLY cool idea, and I think the material sounds very good - better than Down To Earth especially!
I wish other bands websites did similar. Even if you hate Ozzy (and I know a lot of you do), check out the site anyway as it's really cool! _________________ Along Came A Spider..... |

Gulf Daily News reports: A new venue has been arranged by Bahrain-based Mirage Promotions for the Middle East debut by American rock band AEROSMITH. The aim is to avoid delays experienced by many fans during last month's SHAKIRA concert.
SHAKIRA performed for more than 25,000 people at the Dubai Autodrome, but fans reported major delays getting to and from the venue because of heavy traffic.
AEROSMITH will now perform at the Dubai Exiles Rugby Ground — the venue hosting the annual Rugby 7's tournament.
Several Bahrain fans who travelled for the SHAKIRA concert missed all or part of it because of traffic jams.
"It took me over two hours to get to the concert venue and most of the way, I had to walk it with my friends," said Bahraini Alia Mohammed, 18.
"By the time we got to the Autodrome, the concert was already well into its first half.
"I also had many friends who had bought tickets but were unable to catch the concert."
The AEROSMITH concert will be held on May 31.
More than 20,000 fans are expected to attend the only Middle East performance by this iconic rock band and the Dubai Exiles Rugby Ground and adjacent areas will be capable of handling more than 10,000 vehicles.

Ozzy Osbourne's new album is to be called Black Rain and released early June. A preview of his new single will be available on Ozzy.com on Friday 13th April. This album has been recorded in Ozzy's home studio - better he says because you can get the idea down when you get it. Ozz also says he went into this wanting a new No More Tears, and something that would hang with Diary Of A Madman, and he described Down To Earth as somewhat of a filler album. He appears very satisfied with Black Rain. If what he says about it is true, I'm looking forward to it very much. _________________ Along Came A Spider..... |

SPINAL TAP ARE BACK!! Source: AOL.co.uk
Spinal Tap is back, and this time the US mockumentary band wants to help save the world from global warming.
The mock heavy metal group immortalised in the 1984 mockumentary, This Is Spinal Tap, will reunite for a performance at Wembley Stadium as part of the Live Earth concerts scheduled worldwide for July 7.
The original members of Spinal Tap will be there: guitarist Nigel Tufnel (played by Christopher Guest), singer David St Hubbins (Michael McKean) and bassist Derek Smalls (Harry Shearer). Rob Reiner, who both directed This Is Spinal Tap and played the fake documentarian Marty DeBergi in the film, will also be in attendance.
A new 15-minute film directed by Reiner on the band's reunion will also play at the opening night of the Tribeca Film Festival in New York today.
The festival, hosted by Al Gore, is to open with a showing of several global warming-themed short films produced by the SOS (Save Our Selves) campaign.
SOS is also putting on the Live Earth concerts, to be held across seven continents.
Reiner explained the reunion of Spinal Tap - a band always known more as a parody of rock'n'roll excess than environmental awareness.
"They're not that environmentally conscious, but they've heard of global warming,'' said Reiner, whose other films include When Harry Met Sally and Stand By Me.
"Nigel thought it was just because he was wearing too much clothing - that if he just took his jacket off it would be cooler.''
Spinal Tap has reunited several times since the film, but hasn't for a number of years. For the band - whose last album was 1992's Break Like The Wind - the occasion warranted a new single: Warmer Than Hell.
Reiner provided a sneak peak at the lyrics: "The devil went to Devon, it felt like the fourth degree. He said, 'Is it hot in here, or is it only me?'''
The director said the new short film explained what the band had been doing with their lives lately. Nigel has been raising miniature horses to race, but can't find jockeys small enough to ride them; David is now a hip-hop producer who also runs a colonic clinic; and Derek is in rehab for addiction to the internet.
Reiner, 60, has for more than 20 years worked with the National Resources Defence Council, an environmental action organisation. Though the Spinal Tap reunion will be a lot of laughs, he hopes the SOS short films programme and the Live Earth concerts have a substantial effect.
"What I think is going to be nice about this whole effort is there will be marching orders for people,'' said Reiner. "Not only from a personal standpoint of what individuals can do in their lives, but a macro perspective with respect to the public sector and government.'' _________________ Along Came A Spider..... |
