Best Dio song ever comes to threeway tie:

Hey Angel

I

of course Heaven and Hell

(I love I)

It doesn't seem that anyone likes Jesus, Mary & The Holy Ghost. I love that song Twisted Evil

In my opinion, the best Dio's song with Rainbow is "Gates of Babylon", with Black Sabbath "Heaven and Hell" and Dio "Holy Diver"

Okay, now that I've heard more, I have to say that Nevermore from Elf's 3rd album I believe, is a f'ing masterpiece. It is an amazing song...

I also think Evil on Queen Street is the best song on LUTW. It has everything it needs to be a "hit"...nothing too "Dio" for the general population and just sounds perfect from beginning to end, IMO.

Yes indeed, "I" is a great one... strong... like a horse....

but...

the other great song on Dehuminizer is in my opinion "Too Late".

take a close listen... and feel it... it is the other masterpiece on that album.. only if you can feel it... the emotion.. the beginning.. until the end.. just try... before it's too late...

If you have to take a close listen to "I" to feel it, then you don't feel it. Simple as that. It either grabs you, or doesn't. It grabs me!

I've only listened to DehuminiZer like once because I've got like 15 cd's to choose from and I forget about what I have...after reading this, it makes me want to listen to it...especially 'Too Late'...

The song SH has grown on me a lot...but still don't like the sythesiZors(my keyboard is broken, hence the capital Z).
I DO like One More For The Road. But I'm not willing to throw the term "masterpiece" on to every decent song. Nobody will remember anything from MOTM years after Ronnie is dead and gone. People will remember Stargazer and The Last In Line and Heaven & Hell. Those are masterpieces.
I submit that nobody will remember MOTM not because it is inferior but because it was released in 2004 instead of 1984. Personally I think it's the best Dio album since Dream Evil, and it's actually a better album than Sacred Heart or Last In Line. In any event I'll give this a try (only one from each album)...

RB Rainbow: 16th Century Greensleeves
Rising: Stargazer
Long Live Rock'n'Roll: Gates Of Babylon
Heaven and Hell: Heaven And Hell
Mob Rules: Sign Of The Southern Cross
Holy Diver: Don't Talk To Strangers
Last In Line: Last In Line
Sacred Heart: Rock'n'Roll Children
Dream Evil: All The Fools Sailed Away
Lock Up The Wolves: None
Dehumanizer: Computer God
Strange Highways: None
Angry Machines: None
Magica: Lord Of The Last Day
Killing The Dragon: Killing The Dragon
Master Of The Moon: The Man Who Would Be King

Someone said that they would rather have a new Dio album than the H&H tour because we may miss getting a new masterpiece, or something like that....MOTM is the last album they put out and I think it is one of the best, so I would love to hear what they would put out now.

For the following albums, please name what you all concider the "masterpiece." You can name 2 if needed...I've named mine, or at least what I've heard. I still have some catching up to do. I don't have all of these, so my list will grow.

Elf
Trying to Burn the Sun-When She Smiles
Carolina County Ball-CCB, Happy
Elf-Never More

Rainbow
Rainbow Rising-MOTSM
RB's Rainbow
LLR&R-LLR&R

Black Sabbath
H&H-all of it
Mob Rules-all of it, especially Country Girl, SOTSC and Voodoo.

MOTM-One More for the Road
Killing the Dragon ?
Magica-As Long as it's not about love
Last in Line-Mystery
Sacred Heart-SH
LOTW?
Angry Machines-this is your life
Strange Highways?
Dream Evil-DE-woops, forgot All the Fools Sailed Away...how could I do that???
Holy Diver-DTTS, Shame on the night

I'm probably missing some...educate me... Embarassed

No, there are no heavy rock masterpieces on those albums, it was a whole kinda different band. Many good songs though.

But Dio, as a band shouldn´t do any of those, as they haven´t.
Rainbow, Sabbath, Dio, left and that´s too much. Never a good set to please everybody.
Maybe it would be a good time to do these special kind of “short” tours like Maiden does.
It´s of course a hell of a lot more expensive to tour Europe when you´re an American bet then again, the market is mostly here. Was, is and would be. The U.S. market is too dependent of what´s going on in MTV.

I guess I drifted far and away....
O.K.
This would be my ultimate wish list for a Dio show on European summer tour 2008.

1. Kill The King
2. Straight Through The The Heart
3. Shivers/The Eyes(the first three songs in a row)
4. Don´t Talk To Strangers
5. Heaven And Hell/Mob Rules (it´s not both and, it´s one or the other)
6. Temple Of The King/Rainbow Eyes(one or....)
7. Egypt(The Chains Are On)
8. Stand Up And Shout
9. Night People
10. Voodoo/Country Girl
11. Holy Diver
12.Stargazer/Gates Of Babylon
13. Rainbow In The Dark
14. Long Live Rock´n´Roll/Man On The Silver Mountain(as earlier...)
15. The Last In Line
16. Neon Knights/We Rock(same here)

Quite a long set anyway, but if there´s a time then something like:
Fever Dreams/Jesus, Mary & The Holy Ghost/Rock & Roll Children

I'm surprised you chose "Throw Away Children", to me that is the weakest song on KTD!

Yeah, I think that one is pretty awful. Same with Mystery. Can't imagine how that one got named a masterpiece.

How can you say that Throw Away children is awful? I understand that you don't like mystery, I also don't like that one, but Throw away children is so beautiful!

are there any people that feel the same way about it?

Definetly the best song from Killing the dragon. So beautiful and sad.
