This is for the Brits....
The 2006 UK Music Hall Of Fame premieres on VH1 as a two-hour extravaganza on Saturday, November 25 9:00 p.m. Prince joined the inductees for this year's event — Brian Wilson, Dusty Springfield, LED ZEPPELIN, Rod Stewart, BON JOVI and James Brown in a star-studded evening full of musical legends. These seven joined Sir George Martin who received this year's Honorary Membership in recognition of his exceptional contribution to British music.
The "2006 UK Music Hall of Fame" took place at the famed Alexandra Palace in London on November 14 and included a rare public appearance by LED ZEPPELIN founding member and "guitar god" Jimmy Page and performances by inductee Brian Wilson and his band; British soul sensation Joss Stone and R&B legend Patti LaBelle who paid tribute to Dusty Springfield; a supergroup tribute to THE BEATLES conducted by Sir George Martin which featured QUEEN's Roger Taylor, Johnny Borrell of RAZORLIGHT, Swedish singer/songwriter Jose Gonzales and Corinne Baily Rae. Finally, WOLFMOTHER performed a tribute to LED ZEPPELIN and James Morrison performed tribute to Rod Stewart.
VH1 Classic will premiere an unexpurgated, extended version ceremony on Friday, November 24 at 8:00 p.m. VH1 Classic viewers will witness a show full of extras, brimming with amazing performances and tributes too huge to be missed.
On November 11, 2004 music history was made with the inaugural ceremony of the UK Music Hall of Fame. THE BEATLES, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Bob Marley, Elvis Presley, QUEEN, Cliff Richard & THE SHADOWS, THE ROLLING STONES, U2 and Robbie Williams were the first artists to enter the UK Music Hall of Fame and Chris Blackwell (the founder of Island Records) was given the Honorary Membership for services to the music industry. |

I dont mind having a listen to them every so often although i am not a huge fan. My favorite album would have to be Zeppelin 3.

I as well enjoy the lesser played songs "Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You" would be on top of that list, love the acoustic parts a lot. But, with that I must also say that Zepplin has taken a lot of their music from Blues artists from earlier times. Sometimes credited, sometiems not.

I think this is the site you're referring to?

What most surprised me was that Stairway To Heaven's intro melody was lifted right out of another band's song. Lol, it's still a great tune though. _________________ Weird thoughts that don't work,

Sometimes I hate Zeppelin, sometimes I like them.
I think the problem for this generation is that Zeppelin simply aren't that special anymore. Think about it this way. There are better guitarists than Jimmy Page (or, simply ones we prefer - to me he's nothing special, not because of ability, just not too keen really), Robert Plant's voice irritates me and there are better singers, there are bands who do rock/hard rock far better than they did, there are bands who do folk far better than they did - see where I'm going with this? I think the hype which was more justified back then has lasted, but now the product doesn't live up to it, compared with what has come since, if you get me.
I have the second and fourth albums. Nothing on them blows me away. I do like some of the stuff though, and I don't care what anyone says, Stairway To Heaven IS a good song! |
This is true of a lot of pioneer bands. Not that Led Zeppelin was much more than a culmination of everything great about Rock and Roll back then, but they certainly were influential and popular, even if there were other bands even back then that were doing the same thing. Few, if any, did it consistently better, and with regards to Rock and Roll, I don't believe that any have done it better since. Now if you consider Metal the same thing as Rock and Roll, then there have indeed been better bands than Led Zeppelin, but I consider these as separate genres.
Really, if you don't own all their albums, then I don't believe you are qualified to say that Led Zeppelin "aren't that great". And with regards to all the people that say they hate Led Zeppelin because they see all these high schoolers wearing Led Zeppelin shirts, aren't you misdirecting your hatred of the high schoolers themselves and confusing it with hatred of the band? _________________ Weird thoughts that don't work,

Led Zeppelin were one of the first hard rock bands I got into and I'll always hate my dad for seeing them at Knebworth in '79.
I think I might go and play Physical Graffiti (Kashmir kicks ass ) |

According to SoundGenerator.com, LED ZEPPELIN legend Robert Plant has been confirmed as one of the headliners of the U.K.'s 2007 Green Man Festival, set to take palce August 17-19 the rolling hills of Glanusk Park in the Brecon Beacons. Plant and his backing band the STRANGE SENSATIONS will perform on Saturday, August 18.
Tickets are on sale now, with weekend access costing £98 per adult and free to under 12s. The campsite will open on August 16. A number of accommodation options are available, but are likely to sell out quickly as in 2006.
