| As some members of this board know, W.A.S.P. is a cool-ass band, and they have kinda changed over the years. (Lyrical theme-wise) This is a poll for the two sides of W.A.S.P. Which do you like better? |

...The serious side!...Believe me Blackie still throws one Hell of a party at his shows...& still plays the early material...but I love the music that Blackie writes from his heart...about things that matter to him!... ...Albums like Neon God are a peak at the artists soul...which is much more interesting to me than just Drink,Puke,Fuck songs!... ...Dont get me wrong...those have their place & time also...but I definitly like the more cerebral/emotional side of WASP!...I still hope Ronnie tackles some of the fucked up issues on this planet for his next project!!! |

I love W.A.S.P. and I haven't a "favourite side"... I think their album are all great... if W.A.S.P. didn't exist, heavy metal shouldn't be the same... _________________ THEY CAN'T STOP US, LET 'EM TRY, FOR HEAVY METAL WE WILL DIE!

Shock-rock WASP is the best WASP. When Blackie trys to get serious, he's mostly just pretentious, the music loses most of what was good in the first place.
Down, down with the neon god! Give me Ballcrusher anyday over that crap. |

I appreciate all his eras. I have all his albums but I agree with you mostly. I miss the angry WASP vs the hey I gotta message WASP.
I liked Crimson Idol better than Neon God. _________________ Smacks & Manly Thumps,

Yes, Crimson Idol is better than Neon God. But Headless Children and Last Command are better than Crimson Idol. |

My vote goes to shock and raunch. Blackie is at his best when he is doing balls-out metal for the unruly masses.
I do think he has made some interesting social commentary in his more serious lyrical efforts. If he really has something insightful to say in that vein, he should write a book because I don't feel a person can effectively address and cover large issues in song format. If you want to do a serious topic justice, that topic demands a more formal treatment, such as a book. _________________ "ZAPPA PLAYS ZAPPA" TOUR DATES: http://www.zappa.com/zpz/tourdates.html

Crimson Idol and Neon God are like for like. That was the point. He said Crimson Idol was short and he did not get to do with it as he would had really liked. I thought that that particular album at least was more in the older WASP vein than the newer Neon God part one and two.
HC and LC would be comparable to Unholy Terror or KFD or Dying for the World for example. _________________ Smacks & Manly Thumps,

For me, KFD sorta sits alone, due to its odd sonic style. I don't really like that one very much. I did like Dying For The World quite a bit. I haven't listened to Unholy Terror recently enough to remember what I thought of it. |
