Haha thanks,
I'm usually always here, though I don't post often.
On Doom metal though, I find I don't like the extremely down tempo stuff, where it seems as if yer caught in slow motion, my mind just starts screaming "go faster"
I love the feeling the music has though, I guess that's what I like most about it. _________________ you put your hope into the sky

King Bayman....sorry to hear about your Father...man...thats hard.
thinking of you...at this time....believe me...it does get easier...you got to give it time. |
I deal with it OK most of the time. Although it's kind of hard right now because the World Series is being played. My team, the St. Louis Cardinals, are in it. My dad always liked the Cubs. I don't know how much you know about baseball being in Europe and all, but the Cubs and Cards are long time rivals and this is the time of year I always gave him hell about his team just sitting at home watching while mine was playing.
Anyways...../end threadjack
Back to the subject at hand. I find Doom Metal too drawn out for my tastes most of the time. If I want slower songs, I tend to listen to non-metal music. |
You should check out the band in my signature....yeah we get the World Series over here.....we don't live in Caves in Scotland....
Folks in UK like Baseball.... |
I didn't know how much you guys knew about it since all that ESPN ever seems to show from Europe is Football (Soccer). All give the band a listen. I almost always give a new band a chance. Never know what you're find out there. _________________ Sit Down Honey....Everything will be alright. |

ESPN etc...show all the american sports over here!
Here's a review I did of one of their cds!
Draconian ''Where Lovers Mourn'' The first song on this album is very impressive..its grand and ambitious "The Cry of Silence" is sort of like My Dying Bride,it lasts for over 12 mins with Heavy guitar riffs its a favourite of mine, this is romantic gothic/doom metal music at it best,"Silent Winter." its like a Tristania song,I know there is maybe too many influences on this cd,but we all have to be inspired somewhere,''A Slumber Did My Spirit Seal '' is more what Draconian are about...again just a great lonely song with melcancholic female vocals by Lisa Johansson, this song is astounding becoz of the performance of Lisa on vocals.''The Solitude ''...I don't like the volin at the start,
but apart from that another great song,Lisa vocals are great on this song, but its not my favourite...mostly becoz of the volin, but the song has a great guitar solo.''Reversion and Secessum'' is incredible another favourite of mine,I love the vocals from Lisa on this the most..never mind romantic..its sexy.''The Amaranth''
is one of the finest songs written by Draconian...I love the guitars in this song...the lyrics are sad but beautiful.''Arkerousia ''This song is so sad,I love the way this song is sung...full of softness and grace.''It Grieves My Heart ''the guitar solo near the start is good, all of the guitar is marvellous in this song,I must make a comment on the male vocals, not once was I unhappy with them...they suit the songs all well.Lisa again gives a great performance.''Where Lovers Mourn'' is a great first album
its dark, moody like a winter's morning with a light covering of snow, but its not cold...its warm and beautiful. |

I'll second that you should check out Draconian!
I have a list of bands I've found and need to get albums of floating around somewhere, later today I'll check it out and post the doom bands I liked. The list is about 90 or so bands, I don't really remember what's what anymore. _________________ you put your hope into the sky

Novembers Doom
http://www.myspace.com/novembersdoom
I was browsing Amazon the other day and they reccomended them to me, haha, glad they did.
They sound quite a bit like My Dying Bride.
Swallowed by the Moon is an amazing song, if you listen to only one, listen it this one. The lyrics are so emotional. _________________ you put your hope into the sky

I heard someone say the early Black Sabbath was doom metal? |
Black sabbath was the group that founded doom metal |

Here's what I think of My Dying Brides new cd....''A Line Of Deathless Kings''
The reviews...I have read keep comparing their other cds...as this is my first cd by My Dying Bride,
I am not comparing it with anything...I am interested in this band alot mainly becoz they have been a huge influence on my other favourite Doom Metal band,Draconian, there is also influences of Black Sabbath here...not with the lyrics or singing...but with the music,Aaron clear and sometimes just a whisper of vocals are slow unworried..he makes it sound like there is no effort but there is.Now what really woke me up reading the ''fans'' reviews was alot of them are saying this is not a classic from them...well if this is not a classic release from My Dying Bride...then I will have to buy alot more of there cds asap.I liked this right from the start with...''To Remain Tombless''There is spoken passages in some of the songs...this adds real drama to the atmosphere, the song ''I Cannot Be Loved'' is my favourite, but there is not a bad song on the cd..all of them impressive by virtue of greatness, this is pure Heavy Metal and of course Doom Metal.I am very impressed by this cd...now there is no female vocals...and I am very dogmatic about likes and dislikes....only a handful of male singers do anything for me....I am pleased to say...Aaron is now added to my list.Special mention to the 2 guitar players,Andy and Hamish....if they are ever free...please please do a cd with Ronnie James Dio,I would love to hear a collaboration.
Let yourself be absorbed by My Dying Bride, let the light fade away. |
