| What kind of idiotic question is this? The Singer of Manowar is nowhere close to Ronnie's league. |

Adams' voice never sounds full and natural to me. Kind of like Hetfield in that he sounds like he's putting on an affect to imply anger or whatever. Almost sounds cliche or like parody at times.
Ronnie's voice is just so full, natural, with perfect presence and tone. He literally sounds sincere.
Really unmatchable in my opinion. |

Everyone says Eric Adams is no match for Ronnie James, but he does have one vote. I don't know Eric Adams, so I don't know if he is good, but who voted for eric adams? _________________ You're Breathless, ready to burn

Remember AVR is just asking a question....
He is not saying it is a fact.

I was the one that voted for him He's probably the most techincally talented vocalist in metal right now, and he has been for the past 26 years. He seems incapable of singing off-key too... And I don't see where Rhinosaur gets the whole not natural or full thing, I know he does a semi-growl on occasion, especially more-so live, but its not hard to do, and I think it just adds more to the song when he does it, but at first I didn't like it either. So meh, I guess that part is just preference... ^_^ |

Guys, actually I can hardly believe that there's so much ppl on here who dont know Eric - nobody can scream like him - Adams...
As a long time fan of Manowar (actually they got me started in metal when I was 7 or 8 years old) it just seems odd to me...so no offense to anyone
Anyway, Eric Adams IS the man if you are looking for a powerful metal singer, however, it's true that he has a very different style compared to RJD. The music's also very different...oh...and btw, as far as I know they are two different human beings
My attitude towards Manowar and Eric Adams is that they are great and always have been and that a lot of ppl are turned off due to the "cheese factor", but that's a matter of taste, as usual.
MANOWAR seriously ROCK, if you really havent yet, go check them out.
As the sky is home to the eagle the road belongs to Manowar
And RJD rocks anyway, everybody on here knows that!

Well HM if you were to buy a Manowar album the best they made would probably be Kings of Metal. I say probably since alot of other fans might suggest The Triumph of Steel. Depends if you prefer shorter less epic songs (Kings) or a concept (Triumph). Alot of the stuff they've been making the last few years has been a bit more Symphonic. The 80's era stuff was far better than anything they've made recently IMO. If not Kings then Sign of the Hammer gets high marks. The Oath (off Sign) might be the best song they ever recorded.
Eric Adams is one of less than a handful of vocalists who could compare with Ronnie and has a vocal range to prove it. BTW he is also an avid bowhunter and has made a deer hunting video.
The most interesting thing abour Manowar is that Joey Demaio(bassist and founder) actually played on an Elf tour. Steve Harris is the only other bassist in the world i could compare his talent level to as far as playing writing is a different story. |

Concerning the albums, I can only say get them all, it's not as much material and not as expensive as, say, buying a Priest collection.
In fact, Manowar has 9 studio albums, which should be readily available at this point in time and two double live albums, which might be a little rarer these days, I'm not sure.
As for the DVDs, they are all great fun to watch, at least if you're a fan (or one in the making ), but for starters maybe Fire And Blood might be a good choice, it has Hell on Earth Part 2 and the complete Monsters of Rock Festival concert on it along with a ton of bonus material.
Okay, as I said earlier on, I'm a long-time Manowar fan, so please excuse me for talking so much about them in the Dio talk forum
My best |

Kings of Metal is their worst album by far, extremely commercial; Triumph of Steel is not in my top 5.
Their second and third albums are works of pure genius. After that, the imagination was gone, so they made a career based on more of the same.
Their live albums, particularly Hell on Stage Live, are good.
Eric Adams is, as far as I know, the human being in recording history with higher vocal range, from deep bass to the high end. OK; he cannot sing the bits of the Queen of The Night in Mozart's Magic Flute: only a handful of women can, in each generation; but then again, none of those women can go into any sort of bass register.
By the way, Manowar were formed in a Black Sabbath show with Dio (google it).
And Dio has expressed his admoration for Adams, including once he actually tested his range, and concluded it was 6 1/2 octaves - I read that interview back in the mid-80s.
In purely technical terms, Eric Adams is the best vocalist.
In taste terms, I love those two albums, Into Glory Ride and Hail to England, as much as I do Dio, if I ignore the aesthetics of it. |
