Once, it was 1981-2 for the Mob Rules tour. It was monumental as you can probably imagine. It was at the UC Davis sports hall in Northern California. My friends were all on mushrooms but I didn't want to miss a thing so I was sober as a pin.
I've never heard such good clean live tone in my life (from the whole band, not just Ronnie).
The stage was empty except for two large white crosses tipped on their side - that's all they needed.
Vinnie was wonderful as well.

Cool Sadly, only once. It was back around 2001 in Universal City, CA. DIO was touring in support of MAGICA!. I had average seats so the view I wish would've been closer. I was around 17 when the Holy Diver album was released and I'll never forget the first impression that record had on me. So much fire and magic in those grooves! Now, whenever I need my dose of DIO I put in my copy (DVD) of HOLY DIVER LIVE recorded in London, 2005. ROCK ON!

I've seen RJD about 8 times 5 solo 3 with H+H
I was there for his 2 early concert videos at the Spectrum in Philadelphia. ( which they are tearing down soon ).
Most recently with H+H in atlantic city aug.29th. I saw vinnie and the keyboard player in the showboat casino before the show, and i saw rudy sarzo walking on the boardwalk 5 minutes later. He was in town playing bass for blue oyster cult, awesome night

Sadly, only 4 times. Once during, I think, the Dream Evil tour with Megadeth oppening. Went so I could see Megadeth, but they sucked that night, and Dio totaly rocked. Best concert I ever have seen hands down.

Second time I saw him was on the Magica tour, and once again blew me away. Got a drum stick that night too, first one I ever caught after seeing live shows for 10-15 years.

Third time I saw him he was opening for Motorhead, and Maiden. I still think Motorhead should have opened first, cuz Dio is the shit and Lemmy is just well, nothing compared to Dio.

Fourth time was Heaven and Hell, just last year, and WOW is all I can say. That show was so awesome, Dio sounded just as good as ever, the whole band was tight as can be, and just such powerful music, great night!

Be looking forward to number 5 after he kicks the shit outta this cancer and hopefully records a new Dio album. Love Heaven and Hell, but I want Dio back doing his solo stuff! I hear he was planning on doing a sequel to Magica? I hope so, that album is killer. \m/

I've only seen Ronnie once, 1 June 2009 in St.Petersburg. That was his 4th show in my city (the previous ones date back to 1999, 2004 and 2005) and, sadly, the last one. But for me it was simply the best metal show I've ever been to, a dream come true. And, of course, the day that I'll never forget

Crumbs!! Lost count, probably 5-6. First time was the best

5/11/84 - Guy Fawkes night (here in Blighty) Hammersmith Odeon supported by Queensryche.

Last time was when he played the Astoria and did the Holy Diver Set. You can just make out the top of my bonce (head) on the DVD during the sing a long a bit in Heaven and Hell.

Great gigs, great times. Miss you Ronnie.

I only saw the man once in the flesh, with Heaven & Hell in Ottawa, Ontario on March 28, 2007. Megadeth and Down opened, got us warmed up and energized from some moshing, and I was
right against the stage by the time the lights went down for the living legends. It was like being in church, and Dio sang so strongly I couldn't believe it. He was having so much fun- gracious, fearless, interacting with the band and the audience like the professional he was, giving our small crowd as much power and respect as if we'd been a huge festival. I was just a few feet away through it all, and I touched/shook his hand for a moment when he was reaching out to us all.
Anyway, I'll never forget that night, and I know many of you have similar experiences with the man behind the music.
