Thank you . All you have to do is be lucky enough to meet him and he is so cool. He'll take pictures with any of his fans. He truely appreciates his fans...I just wish they'd play the States soon.
What blows my mind about RJD is that he writes most if not all the lyrics...or am I wrong? Some of the lyrics in the Elf songs are so cool, like, "If you touched me with a feather I'd fall" from Carolina County Ball, or "Crazy kind of feeling, hanging by the ceiling with a bag tied over my head." It's not only the lyrics but how he sings them that just blow me away. I have never heard any Elf before but am now hooked because you can really hear him sing and it's totally different. My 4 year old says, "can you put on the other Dio? This sounds kind of strange." _________________ "...you were a fool but that's cool, it's alright!" |

Oh Elf's nothing...I've heard some earlier Dio (like Dio in the 50's Dio) and I was like...man...that's Ronnie but that doesn't sound like Ronnie...My parents were shocked to learn how many years he's actually been singing...cool stuff back then...he does a really neat verson of What'd I Say...(and in The Elves a neat cover of Aqualung and War Pigs-yes the Sabbath song... ) |

I have a 15 y/o who is into "emo" I guess you call it...my 4 y/o daughter loves Dio because mommy does. The other day she went in my truck with Daddy and requested "Don't Talk to Strangers" so he played it for her. She will sit and watch a Dio DVD with me and get just as excited as I do...."Look at him go! Mommy, it's Dio!!" She means RJD of course.
I have had to explain to her that I love RJD's voice, but that I love Daddy because she told her daddy that mommy had "2 husbands." He said, "really? Who are they?" She said, "you and Dio." It was pretty funny.
One day when the mail came and there was a package, I said, "I wonder who sent this." She said, "I bet it's from Dio." I told her that Dio doesn't send mommy things. Then I opened it and it was 3 Dio DVD's. She said, "See, I told you it was from Dio!" She's a nut, just like her mom . _________________ "...you were a fool but that's cool, it's alright!" |

Your four y/o sounds pretty smart. You said your 15 y/o listens to "emo". What are your opinions about that kind of music and exactly what emo bands does your 15 y/o listen to? |

Looks like we may have a young talent here...
Lightning, learn how to control your breathing. That's what singing really is about. Stargazer is a tough one to start with, try easier songs first. Find a range in which you are comfortable and start singing within your natural range. Your range will expand automatically as you go along.
When you sing, try not to concentrate on your throat, but on your belly. There's a flat, but strong muscle between the belly and the lungs, it goes all the way across, it's called the diaphragm. It relaxes when we inhale, it contracts when we exhale. It controls the air flow through the vocal chords, even when we speak, but most of the time we aren't aware of it.
Once you've learned to consciously control that muscle and have it trained like any other musculature, as in sports, so that it becomes really strong and at the same time you are able to fine-tune it, you can sing almost anything. The rapturous feeling comes when you realize that you don't have to strain your throat at all. When you sing with your throat relaxed and your diaphragm doing all the work, you'll also find that your voice will get louder, stronger, more powerful. It's really worth the effort...
The individual sound of your voice is like a fingerprint, so don't try to sound like someone else. Record your vocals at some point to find out how you really sound, you'll be surprised
When the shock is over, build up on the sound of your voice and find or write songs that fit your vocals.
Take a look at

Have fun!

Just so everyone knows, I turn down the part in "Don't Talk to Strangers" that says, "don't go to heaven, cuz it's really only hell.."
because she is only 4 and doesn't have the mental capacity to not take things litterally. I'm waiting for the day when her preschool teacher tells me, "your daughter screamed at another child to not smell the flowers. She said that they are an evil drug that will make you lose your mind? Where would she get that kind of idea?"
Anyway, my 15 y/o likes some metal and listens to Dio everytime we get in the car, but she likes The Used, Taking Back Sunday, Dash Board Confessions, Killing Hannah....I have listened to a bunch of it with her and I like some of the lyrics. I can see why it would appeal to teens who are dealing with deep emotional stuff. But I don't get the impression that the bands will last long... _________________ "...you were a fool but that's cool, it's alright!" |

Talk about stupid people in my country!!! Im 14, so it's very hard to find people my age who are into heavy metal, let's not mention Dio.
I mean, it's ridiculous that everyone here, and I mean everyone, goes with the trends in music....the biggest thing right now is an abomination called Reggeaton...ugh, every song sounds the same, same beat, same stupid lyrics.... I hope in a few years time something better will come along, and all these reggeaton artists will dissapear. Whenever I go to a party it is fun to dance to reggeaton, but it gets old quick.
Another thing that annoys me, is that whenever a friend of mine looks at a Dio or King Diamond album cover they'll laugh and say: Rodrigo and his satanic music. WHAT!!!!? That's just ridiculous, they've never even LISTENED to the music....it's frustrating.
The only person I know who really likes metal is my older brother (he's 20), but he's more of a casual fan. My mom and dad are not too happy with my music, but they listen to it and like some songs (my mom loves Temple of the King and Rainbow Eyes.Oh, and she also likes Holy Diver).
I hope Dio came to Guatemala, but i know and accept that it is very unlikely, not many people know who he is......but he did go to Costa Rica, which is an even smaller country than Guatemala, so all hope is not lost
ROCK ON Ronnie, you've changed my life!!!! _________________ Sleep with the devil and then you must pay...

Yesterday I was in my yard with some guys that are going to build a barn for our horses. My phone went off in my pocket with my new Holy Diver ring tune and the owner said, "I know that guy...Ronnie James Dio."
It was my husband on the phone and I answered it saying, "we found the right guy to build our barn...he knows who Dio is." My husband thinks I'm such a dork. _________________ "...you were a fool but that's cool, it's alright!" |
