According to a posting on the AC/DC fan site AC/DC Highway to Hell, it is rumored that AC/DC has completed editing video footage for a brand new double DVD set to be released September, which will contain one Bon Scott DVD and one Brian Johnson DVD of AC/DC live in concert. The band has also supposedly completed a new album which is scheduled for release January 2008, with a world tour to follow.

Back in December 2006, Albert Music boss Fifa Riccobono shot down reports that AC/DC had a new record titled "Strap It On" coming in 2007.

"I ran that past Mal (Young) some time ago and he said it was the first he'd heard of it, so I guess the answer no," she told Undercover News. "Also, there definitely is no release date scheduled as the album hasn't been recorded yet."

AC/DC leaders Malcolm and Angus Young have been writing material for a few years. In early 2005, singer Brian Johnson told Launch there was a lot of stuff to work with. "I think, and I might be speaking out of turn, but I think they're doing a double, with the amount of songs — I've been over a couple of times with the boys and added ideas on 46 tunes we had, and they've been working since then!" he said.

I read about this. Sounds pretty promising and exciting. AC/DC are a great band and I thik it's been something like six years since their last album. Even if the new CD doesn't appear then the DVD looks quite cool.

More rumors surfacing of AC/DC starting a 'major' tour in Australia next year.

Would it be promoting a dvd set or a new album or both?

...ooh, I'm getting turgid again! Shocked

A statue of Bon Scott is about to be placed in Perth of Australia, at the Claremont Showgrounds

The unveiling of the statue will be on the 24th of February and it will be celebrated with a concert by Noiseworks, Rose Tattoo, The Screaming Jets and the Party Boys of Dave & Mark Evans!

Even after 28 years from his death the legendary singer of rock scene will finally get the "reward" he deserves....

According to the Spanish metal webzine The Metal Circus, AC/DC will tour during the second half of 2008. A source told the site that some of the AC/DC tour crew was informed that the group will hit the road later in the year. There are currently no details available regarding where or when the tour will start.

In other news, Total Rock has reported that there's a fair chance that AC/DC will play one of the so-called "secret shows" in the UK in late January. Speculation is running wild regarding possible cities that will host these showcases, but the group's record label, Sony/BMG, is keeping things quiet, with Sony BMG Italy going as far as to deny that there are plans for an AC/DC album and tour at this moment.

Spinner.com reports that Australian hard rock icons AC/DC are getting closer to ending an eight-year drought of new music. "God, I’m ready," bassist Cliff Williams, who was in L.A. to participate at the Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp, tells Spinner.com. To that end, the group will hit the studio March 1.

Almost as long as the wait for new music is the band’s absence from the stage. Tour plans, however, aren’t as firm. "If we go out again or when we go out again," Williams said. "You just never know. We’ve been around a long time, so we’re going to get together and get in the studio and I fully expect we will [tour.]. I don’t mean to be so negative about that. [When] the last tour ended in early ’01, you’d see kids on their dads’ shoulders. And these kids were like 10, 12 years old. It will be tremendous to see that again. And it’s very cool — younger kids getting into older music."

XM's Boneyard/VH1 Classic host Eddie Trunk revealed a rumor on his "Friday Night Rocks" radio show on New York's Q104.3 FM earlier tonight (Friday, March 2Cool that Australian hard rock legends AC/DC will embark on a "farewell" tour later in the year once the recording sessions for their new album have been completed.

AC/DC bassist Cliff Williams told Spinner.com last month that AC/DC would enter the studio March 1 to begin recording its first new album in eight years. The web site caught up with Williams at the Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp in Los Angeles, where he said, "God I'm ready."

As for touring, however, Williams was less sure about the group's intentions. He explained, "If we go out again or when we go out again, you just never know. We've been around a long time, so we're going to get together and get in the studio and I fully expect we will (tour). I don't mean to be so negative about that."

The band itself is now international, with members scattered across the globe. Malcolm and Angus Young divide their time between Britain and Australia (with Angus also spending time in the Netherlands because he has a Dutch wife). Singer Brian Johnson and Cliff Williams are based in the U.S., while drummer Phil Rudd lives in New Zealand.

Reports surfaced in January that AC/DC was nearly finished recording its next album, but a spokesperson for the band's Australian label, Albert Records, denied the story.

AC/DC's last all-new set, "Stiff Upper Lip", came out in 2000.

AC/DC's official web site has been updated with the following message:

"The waiting is almost over! AC/DC fans can expect the band's next album of new material sometime later this year. The band are currently recording in Vancouver with producer Brendan O'Brien and longtime audio engineer Mike Fraser. This will be the band's first collection of new material since the release of 'Stiff Upper Lip' in 2000."

According to Reuters, the new album will be AC/DC's first for Sony BMG's Epic Records label, which reissued the band's back catalog a few years ago.

AC/DC singer Brian Johnson told a Los Angeles radio station (listen below) earlier in the week that the band began working five weeks ago at a studio in Vancouver, British Columbia. He revealed, "We're working with Brendan O'Brien, (Bruce) Springsteen's producer, and he's a great guy. He knows exactly what we want, and so far, it sounds really good. I'm well pleased."

As for whether the band will tour to support the new disc, Johnson said, "I would probably thinks so, yeah. I always hate to say yes in case something happens, but I really do think we will be out there -- everybody's enjoying being back together again and the buzz is still there and the excitement."

According to Telegraph.co.uk , AC/DC's "Highway to Hell" is becoming one of the most requested funeral tunes in the band's home country of Australia.

"Highway to Hell", with lyrics including "Going down, party time", is among a number rock classics, including LED ZEPPELIN's "Stairway to Heaven", that are replacing traditional hymns in Adelaide.

According to The Pulse of Radio, AC/DC will kick off its first world tour in seven years on Halloween (October 31) in Chicago, a source close to the band has told HardDrive Radio. The tour, which is expected to last 18 months, will come in support of the group's new album, "Black Ice", which is due out on October 28. A single titled "Rock & Roll Train" will arrive at radio stations around August 28.

AC/DC will travel to London, England in early August to shoot a video for "Rock & Roll Train".

"Black Ice", which will be sold exclusively at Wal-Mart, is AC/DC's first new studio effort since 2000's "Stiff Upper Lip". It was recorded at a Canadian studio with PEARL JAM and BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN producer Brendan O'Brien.

The 1977 AC/DC song "Let There Be Rock" will be featured in the new Rock Band 2 video game, due out in September. This will mark the band's first and so far only contribution to a video game soundtrack.
