They've got to be three of the best players in the world and they began to bridge the gap between heavy and progressive music. Their new CD is excellent and I'm going to see them in October with my dad. Any fans?

At least your daughter listens to decent music. She should play Spirit Of Radio at full volume specially for you. Sounds like you really don't like them Laughing
2112's a great track by the way.

I love Rush, they were my first favorite band, they started my love for music.
I agree, the new album sounds great so far, and I might go see them in concert with my dad too haha

I love The Fountain of Lamneth, someone should make it a book or a movie someday, that'd be great!

Rush would definitely be my alltime favorite band if I had to choose. I've seen them in concert several times and they are always amazing. So many good songs and records they're impossible to count. One of the coolest of all time, and you can't even put them in a category - they're their own category. Dream Theater and these bands who are playing "progressive" music would be happy if they ever made a record half as good as 2112 (I've listened to their records and they're a long way off). Geddy is my favorite bassist ever and if you watch the DVD set Rush in Rio they're all such nice, normal guys too (an absolute must have if you like Rush).

Wild timing on this topic because i've been hooked on 2112 for about two weeks now Laughing that album is in a class by itself by far! Just listen to it's complexity and subtle nuances they have mixed in there..oh man it's a classic. Cool

Growing up in Michigan, so close to Canada, I was force fed Rush most of my life. They are a technically excellent band. If thats your thing then they are the greatest band ever. They really arent my thing. I can certainly appreciate their talent, but I'm not really into music I have to think about to get. I like to just be moved by a song with no thought process. For those of you who love them I m happy you do, I just dont think they are all that.

Love the early stuff they did. My favorite album was farewell to Kings, but 2112 was pretty cool as well. Not really a huge fan of their later stuff, seemed a bit commercial, but from what I have heard, sounds like a great album.

RUSH's latest album, "Snakes & Arrows", has sold just under 93,000 copies in the United States during its first week of release to land at No. 3 on The Billboard 200 chart.

"Snakes & Arrows" is the Canadian band's first new collection of original material in nearly five years. RUSH — Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, and Neil Peart — will trumpet the release of "Snakes & Arrows" with a full-scale 48-city North American amphitheater tour, the renowned trio's first since 2004's "An Evening With Rush: 30th Anniversary Tour". The tour begins mid-June and is slated to traverse the continent through the summer.

RUSH's video for the band's new single, "Far Cry", directed by Chris Mills, can be seen at this location:

haha! I didn't know that they still excist! I own Hemispheres and 2112, I love those albums.

Do they still have the same line-up as on Hemispheres and 2112?

Their lineup hasn't changed since their original drummer John Rutsey (I think ths's his name?) left after their first album:

Geddy Lee - Bas/Vocals
Alex Lifeson - Guitars
Neil Peart - Drums

You should definitely check out their new album......proves they can still rock Cool

Rush and Dream Theater are both "you get them or you don't" bands. I get Rush, and I don't get Dream Theater, even though they seem to be good musicians. I'll probably have to give them a try again sometime. Both have equally fanatic fans and equally adamant detractors.
Rush can still sell out large arenas in every country in the world any time they want.
