...LOOK...Malmsteen is the more skilled/agile & presicely accurate player at high velocity, hands down!!!...but to someone who does not play...I definitely understand how one would choose Blackmore...He writes Great songs! |
, that simply isnt true.
Yngwie is very sloppy, Blackmore is one of the most "precisely accurate" players ever, along with Steve Vai and Petrucci. |
Iam not a big Yngwie fan . But he is no way sloppy . Everything he does is technically right on ! Imo Blackmore is a bit sloppy as a live
player . Watch him in the Rainbow dvd's from the 80's . He is wild
and not that in control of his licks . |
Probably pissed out his tree or something similar. _________________ Sick of all of this

I've always loved Ritchie...Deep Purple, Rainbow, Blackmore's Night...He's never lost my interest! Yngwie...I really stopped carring after Odyssey...and really lost interest after Eclipse...
I only enjoyed him in Alcatrazz and Rising Force... |

| I don`t know how many times I have to say this... The speed of Yngwie is the way it is perceived. Your perception of Yngwie`s guitar action as being lighting speed, has more to do with the scale that is played. Ynwie plays scales that sound quick and are much more difficult to get around on the guitar because they were originaly developed on the violin centuries ago and played in Baroque music. The scale is called diminished and has a very dramatic sound. If you were to put a metronome and counted the notes played per beat, then measured them with other guitarist such as Vivian Campbell, you would discover other guitarist are playing more notes per beat. However, almost all guitarist play scales that are standard. Very mapped out shape. |

I have to give it to Yngwie,l for a couple of reasons. first he was obsessed with Ritchie as a kid, and learned everything ritchie did. then he took that and developed his own style from it. I agree with the earlier post that Ritchie could not play yngwie, but Yngwie can easily play Ritchie.
Also I saw Yngwie open for DIo on the Lock Up The Wolves tour. He was in a blues phase, I guess because he was getting so much flack for being technical and having no feel. I was completely blown away. I have never heard anyone mix technical skill with feel the way that he did that night. He was awesome. I prefer Skolnick to Yngwie any day, but against Ritchie he gets my vote. _________________ Check out Al Diamond Phillips/Nevermet on the web

There's no contest here, Malmsteen is one of the most learned/skilled players on this planet. I love Ritchie, but he cannot touch Ynwgie's diversity, speed, precision or "style" on his best day, judging from what we have all heard from him that is. PERIOD!

| Blackmore plays with feeling and emotion with awesome tasty riffs. Yngwie just plays scales as fast as he can and is so predicatble. Lots of guys can shred scales, but can not do it with heart, emotion, and tasteful feeling. 10 notes per second is cool, but it is not greatness! |
That's the oldest cop out in the book, I'll agree, Yngwie can tend to over do it,but he plays with every bit as much emotion as Ritchie. Listen again. Also, Ritchie has never been much on "riffs". In fact,he's always left the rhythm section pretty much up to the keyboardist! _________________ ...As long as it's NOT about love... |

There is so many Blackmore Riffs...
Burn,Knocking At Your Backdoor,Lazy,Perfect Strangers,Smoke On the Water,Black Night,Hard Lovin' Man,
Tarot Woman,Stargazer,Gates Of Babylon ,Long Live Rock N Roll...etc etc
Of course I am not saying Malmsteen does not have talent but to say Blackmore does not have many riffs is untrue.
Deep Purple In Rock is riff after riff |

Most of DP's rhythm section sounds like it was executed by Jon Lord to me Holy, when I think of Riffs, I think of Guys like Iommi.
Then Again,Ritchie did submit one of the most memorable riffs of all time with the song Smoke on the water, simplistic as it is, I much prefer Man on a Silver Mountain. When I think of Ritchie & Yngwie, I think "Lead Guitar"...neither one of them has ever impressed me as approaching RiffMaster status. I think Ritchie has definitely produced the catchier tunes, but speaking for myself as a player who has examined & attempted to emulate both these guys, Ritchie cannot begin to touch Yngwie's Chops & technical prowess on the Guitar.
btw, thanx for the Member o' the Month Title! But who do I remind you of? _________________ ...As long as it's NOT about love... |

Personally I think Malmsteen is better than Blackmore. There are so many arguments for each person, but he is just the one I would listen to more of _________________

...Do you play Guitar Reem?...can you say Sweep Arpeggio?... ...no really, I love Ritchie...but I have never seen or heard him pull off some of the most astounding fretwork to date that Yngwie submits...I'll tell you what...you offer me a link to a piece of music by Ritchie Blackmore that you believe to be his most incredible effort...check out You Tube maybe...then I will reply...GAME ON!...
...Oh, & by the way...Guitar World Mag recently published an issue with Yngwie on the cover...citing the worlds "50 fastest guitar players"...they actually "clocked" their entries somehow to obtain the results...& Ritchie was NOT on the list...PeacE out... _________________ ...As long as it's NOT about love... |

i'm just saying what i think...
and you should know that the secret in music ain't how fast it is.
personaly i think ritchie can do fast like malmsteen but it's just ain't his style that why he doesn't.

...Um' do I hear crickets chirping?...did you have something to say brutha?... ...No really...I'm really lloking forward to the piece of music you will choose by Ritchie to go forward into battle with Yngwie Reem...So how 'bout it?...this is the Battlefield Rite?... ...this should be a bit of fun...
...Wait...I see...your post was inserted mistakenly into my quotation... ...& I understand what your saying...but I doubt it, as very few players master Yngwie's technique to the extent that he has...& no, speed doesn't always mean that one is a better guitarist...but it is a necessary tool to have in one's heavy metal bag of tricks to compete, & when used tastefully, as in the way Yngwie plays the guitar, it's simply amazing IMO... _________________ ...As long as it's NOT about love... |

Malmsteen's da bomb. The house is Malmsteen's. He owns it. Yngwie far and beyond Blackmore and other clones or should I say clowns out there and all you guys know it. Your all just trying to be kewl and go for the under-dog. Everyone likes to cheer on the under-dog just like Blackmore or some other guitar player is Rocky Balboa. I know you guys know what axe this is in the pics. Chic is play'n my axe.
