Of course , the most accomplished is Blackmore, but chops wise , Aldrich beats everyone. This guy has won more 80's metal guitarist jobs than anyother guitarist from the 80's, lately!... _________________ -------------------------------------------------------

| i picked Rowan, just cause i love all the stuff he did on Lock up the Wolves. Vivian is a close second and Goldy right there too. DIO has always been surrounding himself with superior talent, just like Ozzy. |

Tony Iommi is my favorite guitarist of all time but i honestly think Dio fits best with Vivian Campbell as guitarist.
I allso like Rowan Robertson alot. Cool thing RJD let such a young guitarist into his band. |

This was a hard one to pick. It is really a close race between Tony Iommi and Ritchie Blackmore. I have seen both these guitarist perform I would have to vote for Tony Iommi he makes it look so easy when he is playing not that Blackmore doesn't. Besides RJD has said on his last tour this past summer Tony Iommi is the best guitarist so if RJD can make this statement it must be true. _________________ If you wish hard enough you might be surprised what awaits you at the end of the rainbow! |

Technically the best guitarist without doubt it Mr Blackmore........not that I dont rate all the others, just that Ritchie is technically the most accomplished player. I love the riffs that Iommi comes us with but dont rate his solos at all.....of the rest Doug is top......but its all about personal opinion isnt it! _________________ Stand up and Shout!!!!! |

I had to go with Vivian Campbell on this poll. I don't think he's technically the best, but I like his style the best. I can't say enough about how influential his work on the first three Dio albums was on my own playing style.
I could easily see Rowan Robertson being my top pick, had he played on more than one album. His work on "Lock Up the Wolves" is phenomenal, and "My Eyes" is one of my favorite Dio songs of all time.
As for live performances and stage presence, I'd have to give it to Doug Aldrich. His playing is virtually flawless and ... well, he's just cool as hell. He's simultaneously confident and humble.
I don't want to slight any of Dio's past guitarists, though, because each one of them has been great in his own way. Each one has brought a distinctive sound to the table. |

That isn't an easy question to answer as Ronnie has always found a way to surround himself with the best. Kudos to all of Dio's axe handlers!
For me it would have to fall between Ritchie and Tony, but their styles are different enough that saying one is better than the other isn't fair to either one of them.
As a whole, I like the uniqueness, structure, and creativity of Blackmore/ Dio songs the most. Then again... _________________ ...and the time had come for the one to go to the temple of the king...RIP Ronnie. |
