So this morning I get up, have a coffee and log on to see whats been going on with the High Voltage Festival and find that I have won a free pair of tickets to todays (Sundays) show.......only problem is that I live a fair way from the event, trains are not running and there is no parking around the place!!

Cant even give tickets away as they are need ID to give me my writsband........groan.........

There are only a couple of bands on today that I would want to see but at such short notice the logistics make it impossible for me to go................now if I'd won tickets to last night - everything would have been done to get me there!!!!

Remember this on tv in the UK next weekend.

For folks in UK
HEAVEN & HELL: Highlights From RONNIE JAMES DIO Tribute Concert To Air On U.K.'s SKY ARTS
On August 28 at 9:00 p.m. local time, U.K. cable satellite channel Sky Arts will broadcast presumably professionally filmed highlights from the High Voltage festival at Victoria Park in London, England, including the July 24, 2010 performance by surviving HEAVEN & HELL members Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Vinny Appice as a tribute to their fallen bandmate, Ronnie James Dio. Also scheduled to be broadcast are clips from ZZ TOP, EMERSON, LAKE & PALMER, FOREIGNER and GARY MOORE.
Iommi, Butler and Appice were joined at the High Voltage festival by legendary former DEEP PURPLE and BLACK SABBATH man Glenn Hughes and Norwegian vocalist Jorn Lande, who sings for power metallers MASTERPLAN and has just released his own tribute to Ronnie.

Just sat through the High Voltage Festival on Sky Arts 1 HD.......and NO Heaven and Hell !!!!!

Dont know what happened but there was also no ZZ Top or Gary Moore footage, plenty of ELP, Foreigner, Marillion, Asia etc but No Heaven and Hell.

Wonder what happened?

I will say watching the show in HD was immense! Just gutted that there was no Heaven and Hell footage.

High Voltage 2011 – Line Up Announcement
Following the exciting announcement that heavy metal legends Judas Priest will play their farewell festival performance as High Voltage headliners and metal heroes Dream Theater will be closing the weekend with their only 2011 UK festival performance, we are delighted to announced that joining them on the main stage is none other than heavy rock supergroup Black Country Communion, featuring Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple, Black Sabbath) on vocals and bass, Jason Bonham (Led Zeppelin) on drums, Derek Sherinian (Dream Theater) on keyboards, and Joe Bonamassa (the blues-rock solo star) on guitar and vocals. The band released its debut album in 2010 to widespread critical acclaim and will not be performing at any other UK festival this year.

They will be joined on the main stage by Michael Schenker Group led by the guitar hero who made his name in the 1970s with two iconic bands – Britain’s UFO and Germany’s Scorpions.

We’re also thrilled to reveal that the legendary Jethro Tull – led by charismatic singer and flute player Ian Anderson and guitarist Martin Barre – are set to headline the Prog Stage; this is a UK exclusive, Tull’s only UK show of 2011.

Following a lengthy hiatus two cult prog bands have reformed to join us on the Prog Stage, Spock’s Beard will perform another UK festival exclusive and British heroes Caravan add to the occasion alongside Mostly Autumn, Pallas and The Enid.

I went to the High Voltage Festival this year in 2011 & had a brillant time , the weather held out & was even better on sunday (hot & sunny) - luckly enough to cut a long story short , one of my good friends won some tickets through the Metro newspapers magazine & we had a great time on both days as we had 2 day passes , my No:1 favourite heavy metal band - Judas Priest played a blinding powerfull show with a great set list to die for including - Blood Red Skies from the Ram It Down album , i made sure i got nearer to the stage while they was about to come on , i was only 30 feet away from the stage & loved every minute of it .

Also Slash played a great set with the lead singer from Alter Bridge , he was like the new Axl Rose but even better really .

On sunday i only watched Michaell Monroe, MSG, + Thunder , i also got the chance to meet Thunder as they were doing signings at the HMV stand , managed to get the Back Street Symphony + Very Best Of signed by the band, Danny Bowes (Lead Vocals) was great as always & i said to him when i met him how do you manage to keep them lead vocals going so strong all the time , you remind me of my old favourites - Graham Bonnet & Ronnie James Dio , he laughed & said thanks a lot for the comment mate .

It was also nice just to win something for a change folks , as my good friend (Mick) won tickets for us both that weekend , i was in heavy metal heaven for one whole weekend & im definately going next year aswell in 2012 , hopefully the Scorpions will play there next year as they have not hit the U.K. yet with thier - Sting In The Tail Tour .
