Cortland-born rocker Ronnie James Dio would have turned 69 years old Sunday.

Everybody in Central New York is invited to his hometown that day for a tribute concert, Stand Up and Shout Cortland.

Dio died of cancer in May 2010. His family, friends and devoted fans have been hard at work raising money for the Stand Up and Shout charity to help fight the disease.

Dio’s cousin, David “Rock” Feinstein, will headline Sunday’s show with his longtime rock band, The Rods.

It’s a big summer for The Rods. They’ve got a new album, “Vengeance,” and will tour Europe this summer with Dio’s Disciples, which include former bandmates of metal maven Dio and a rotating crew of lead vocalists to handle his parts.
The Sunday show starts at noon, at the J.M. McDonald Sports Complex, 4292 Fairgrounds Drive, Cortland.

The lineup also includes Nick Lundberg, Ron Starmer, Chain Reaction, Dog Soldier, Right Brothers, Charlie Bertini Band, Bobby Comstock, Black and Blue Band, The Starmer Brothers, Mickey Sometimes, Ten Man Push, The Cafferty Band, Don Barber, Doug Thaler and John Arthur Foster, also known as Buddy DiStefano.

Syracuse music historian Ron Wray will be one of a handful of celebrity MCs.

Tickets are $15 in advance, available at almost every other store in Cortland, the Rise N Shine Diner on Thompson Road in Syracuse, and the event's site. They’ll be $20 at the door. In addition to Dio’s charity, a portion of the proceeds will go to a scholarship named after Dio that will go to a Cortland High School music student.
