|
|
Are the LPs from the Complete Dio Collection remastered from the original analog tapes or are they from digital remasters? Most 180 gram vinyl LPs that are being released these days come from bad sounding digital masters. You can't just take digital masters, slap them on vinyl, and say "voila." They just don't sound good and that's not the proper way to prepare an album for LP pressing. I certainly hope that's not what happened to Dio's beloved discography |

Hi, This is Dean Schachtel, the GM of Niji Entertainment Group. For the true vinylists out there, we are going to use the analog tapes up until Ronnie started using strictly digital.
I made a promise to my Dear friend that everything we release would be just as he would want it, PERFECT! |

Thank you for letting us know, Dean. That's great news: the old analog masters are the way to go for vinyl, when they're available:-) _________________ FINIS PER SOMNIVM REPERIO TIBI SACRA COR VENEFICVS OSTIVM AVRVM. |

I was curious to know if there was a special way to get signed up so I don't miss out on the vinyl box. I honestly do not care what it costs. I've already spent a fortune trying to run down the later stuff on LP and will love having it all done properly on wax again. I actually had to replace the first two recently as my originals were totally trashed from overplaying.
This will be a great way to remember Ronnie, as it began for me. =) |

Thank you so very much for the excellent news. I almost feel like crying because it's such a wonderful thing to hear for an audio enthusiast and a giagantic Dio fan as well, knowing that such amazing music has been taken great care of
On a similar note, are there also plans for Dio's CDs to be remastered as well? I really, really think that Steve Hoffman(excellent renowned Remastering Engineer) would be an absolutely fantastic person to remaster Dio's CDs with an amazing touch of quality and dynamics; the way a proper CD should sound.
Of course, the Niji group has an excellent reputation for quality so even if he isn't remastering, I'm sure someone else will do a fine job of producing the dynamic CDs as well

Absolutely. Although digital audio has many benefits, analog audio has a magical feel that can only be achieved when an analog master is used on an anlog medium such as vinyl. |

Back On Black's releases have been pretty poor. They use CD masters to press their vinyls and they don't sound like they should. I know that there are probably many bands who may not have their original tapes usable, but mastering well-converted digital multitracks should provide excellent quality. |

Really? At their site they claim that they master the albums carefully to suit the vinyl format: http://www.backonblack.com/production.htm Maybe their earlier releases was bad but they've gotten better?
What about Night Of The Vinyl Dead? I wrote to them and asked what sources they use for their vinyls, but they didn't reply. I'm tempted to buy their Killing The Dragon and Magica. Anyone knows how they sound compared to the CD's? |
