I am not sure if I read that article, but I knew Dio postponed his health treatment so he could keep performing. He put us , the fans , in front of his own health. As much as I would have hated it if my concert was one that would have been postponed, I would still rather have him here with us still and not have suffered like he did.
Thanks for the link, though. All of us should learn from this and his death will teach us something. So we don't let our health slide.

Ronnies son stated that he put his health last in his life because he always wanted to be there for his fans and he begged people to have check ups.
Geezer stating this reiterates the point. Makes me sad that Ronnie didnt get himself checked. _________________ Stand up and Shout!!!!! |

When it comes to men's health's, we always ignore check ups etc, we just seem to believe that our illness or pain, will just go away on its own. What stops us from going to the doctors is fear, pride and weakness, as we get older we don't want to look fragile.
I remember when I was a teenager, I got hit with a car, I just dusted myself down and carried on as if nothing had happened, I should have got myself checked out but I did not.
My father suffered for a whole year with a bad back and would not go and get himself checked out, when he did it was too late, he had cancer in his kidney, he refused treatment and died shortly afterwards.
My whole attitude about my own health changed straight away and with Ronnie's passing its our duty to his memory and our loved ones to get ourselves checked out always.
How many out there check themselves for testicular cancer? |

Without going into too much detail I do check myself and also my company do a full annual healthcheck which I never miss.
We all (especially the guys) need to take our health seriously. _________________ Stand up and Shout!!!!! |

I read this article a few days ago. I was very shocked.
However I thougt that he must have noticed his own condition since 3 or 4 years before.
He wanted to keep on singing on stage till the end.
He made his own choice to death.
It's really sad. I thought why other people around him did not force him to go to a hospital.
But he made up his mind. He used up whole his life.
When I think of this, I can't hold up my tears... _________________ ☆Tell me lies as long as it's not about love☆ |

Reading this made me kind of sad...
However, there really is no way of knowing if things would have turned out differently.
I've never been one to play the "what if" game. |

Ladies, we need to do it too. I've been putting it off and putting it off. I have NEVER had a smear test done it can't be any worse than giving birth right?
I know I need to do this. I have to get checked. A few minutes of discomfort and maybe embarrassment could be a life saver. |

It was quite upsetting to read that. I can't help thinking "if only.." But it's useless, I know it.. What happened happened and there's nothing we can do about it. We can do something about what *will* happen, though. And getting checked regularly, not making the same mistake, can be a way of doing something for the Is-To-Be.. _________________ Carry high the torch given by the Angel

You will recall that earlier in this thread I said about having the annual company medical....well got the results back and they found occult blood in my stool sample....as a result I am off to have a colonoscopy very soon........how friggin ironic is that????
As I have said before - everyone please get yourself checked.
I am unsure how to feel......it could be nothing or it could be something, all I know is that I am doing what I wish Ronnie had done and getting it checked. I will let you all know whats happening as it happens. _________________ Stand up and Shout!!!!! |

Olivius -- Will be thinking of you! Hope everything is OK!
With Ronnie, having seen him on that last tour, the thing that bothers me most is wondering if the show I saw contributed to his death by postponing his diagnosis/treatment. It was a fantastic show, but certainly not worth that high a price |

Yes, Oli...PLEASE keep us posted. I'll be thinking about you.
I saw a billboard not long ago. It said "Thousands of men die each year from stubbornness." And it made me think of "you know who." |
