Great buy!! Ronnie was fantastic at both shows as usual. I have underestimated Craig Goldy severely. He sounds great on disc two. Neon Nights just slays!! The packaging is great but I wish the booklet was a little better with more stats and info about the performances. I had the boots of these for years its great that they got a sonic cleanup and a proper release. This is the first DIO product I have bought since he left us..... Sad

There's only one thing wrong with these CDs (and it has been said before too)!
They are just too short!

I Mean, it would have been even better, if they played "Don't Talk to Strangers" or "We Rock"!

Well... Guess nothing is perfect!
But of course, I'm very happy, that we finally have a proper audio release with 80's live Dio (Intermission does not count) (bought it as soon as I could)!
It's just too sad, that we didn't get it well... say some 5 or 10 years back!

BAM!

Wife picked it up on Amazon for me! Shazaaaaaam!

Can't wait to hear.

I get a kick out of reading 'Executive Producer Ronnie James Dio' on it.

Would love hearing some rare/b side tracks if niji ever wants to let rare stuff go. I'd get a huge kick out of it.

Love it! I listened to both shows when they were originally broadcast but these
Cds are killer!

Really good to hear Craig on a live recording!

Both shows have so much power and serves as a reminder of why Dio was held in such high regard as a live outfit.

These are going to get played constantly for a while.......now can we please have a full sacred heart show please? Very Happy

Both shows are really powerful and energetic and deliver the atmosphere of early 80's exciting DIO live.

NHK(Japanese national broadcast) FM Radio ran a 10-hour HR/HM program on 23rd of Dec. And it was kind of tribute to Ronnie in a way. Opening song was Stargazer.

And Rainbow(Elf), Children of the sea (Sabbath), The Last in line(DIO) and Bible black(H&H) were on air !
And this Last in Line was from Donington Live CD.
Proper live album from 80's was out, so that we can listen these songs on public broadcasting program finally.

Many people here don't know that this CD was released and there is a person who asked what album this song is from in mixi.

Public release of live show is really worthwhile.

I had a chance to listen to the earlier of the two performances so far.

I've often not been a huge fan of live performances for lots of bands, but this has hardly been the case w/Dio.

My biggest observation is that the band has immense character and energy on tape. You can't fake this.

Live Evil was panned by Dio, but there are moments on Children of the Sea for instance where I prefer Dio's performance to this one at Donnington. Perhaps I just prefer the Sab songs with the Sab guys.

The character heard in these recordings is undeniable. The energy is positively there.

I'd prefer the mix to reveal the vocals just a bit more, but I can understand if there might have been limitations.

In any case, I was very intrigued to hear that first cd and look forward to hearing the 1987 Donnington performance.

Peace and happy new year!

Both concerts are very good IMO, I think Dio's voice is great like always. Wink

I especially like "Man On The Silver Mountain" from the second disc, it's a good expanded version. My least favorite is probably the too fast "Long Live Rock & Roll".

Cool

I would love to see a DVD of a Dream Evil show myself. I know they recorded the San Antonio show for MTV back in 88 but as far as I know only a few clips ever made it onto MTV.
