Hey guys,
Tony Iommi announced tonight that the surviving members will perform with guest vocalists July 24 in London I believe. Don't know who the vocalists will be yet, or what library of songs they will play from. Long Live Ronnie James Dio! Our desire will never be satisfied..

Full Announcement
Tony Iommi Announces Tribute Gig
14th June 2010
“The Devil You Know” won Best Album at the Metal Hammer Awards this evening. While accepting the award on behalf of Heaven and Hell, Tony Iommi announced they would be performing a tribute to Ronnie James Dio at the High Voltage Festival next month (Saturday 24th July). Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Vinny Appice will take to the stage with guest singers and perform a 60 minute set of songs in memory of the band’s lead singer who sadly lost his fight against stomach cancer last month. Proceeds from their performance will be going to the Ronnie James Dio “Stand Up and Shout” Cancer Fund (www.ronniejamesdio.com).

From what I have read it will be Jorn Lande and Glenn Hughes. I think it said it will be a 60 minute show, but I don't know how they can do it in that time. Every time I have seen Dio over the past few years, he hasn't been able to finish in any less than 2 hours.

I will be at this festival. We got tickets ages ago in hope of seeing Ronnie. We never dreamed that it would be a tribute gig to him
I think it will be interesting, if not very emotional. I have mixed feelings about the gig, both happy and sad. It will be so strange for me to see other singers on stage singing Ronnie's songs. I am glad there is going to be this tribute though. I was hoping that the high voltage festival would honour Ronnie in some way. It's just so sad that Ronnie himself won't be there |

It is going to be two tribute concerts for DIO, in London and in LA, is it one of them or is it just another gig, and are there any confirmed members of that tributes?? _________________ So live for today

Tony looks so sad and confused yet...
They just decided to do the show recently.
He repeated they wanted to do this show for Ronnie and fans.
I can't hold my tears watching him talking.
He supposed to do the tour with Ronnie.
He said that he was talking with Ronnie 2 wees ago.
It's not correct. Tony is confused a lot.
I'm so sad to know how he feels. _________________ ☆Tell me lies as long as it's not about love☆ |

| Just found out the news this morning. Am over the moon about it. Was wondering if they would do anything as a tribute. There's a few of us going on the Saturday so it's going to make the day a little special. Glen Hughes and Jorn Lande are worthy singers to fill on for the late great late Ronnie. Should be special day I'll have a few tears for sure!! |

I just wish I could be there but £75 for a day ticket is just too much for me to find right now.
Hopefully it will be recorded......or at least some decent you tube clips will appear! _________________ Stand up and Shout!!!!! |

Holy cow, I'd love to see this show, but then again, when I think about how it's not Dio, it's strangely also hard for me to swallow.
Interesting, still, I wish I could make it.
I don't think a person blessed with some kind of Dio clone voice would satisfy me. It's just the whole persona/package/shoes that someone/anyone else cannot fill.
I sincerely do not mean it in an insulting way. I'm not sure I could play with a 'less than' vocalist on any songs after losing 'the greatest voice ever,' even for a tribute. I know the way I am, I'd feel so incomplete, and Dio is so uncoverable that I wouldn't even want to pick up the guitar and try....unless they were done in a different style.
Jorn is a good singer, still not Ronnie quality. I really don't mean to be insulting, I just feel deeply about it I suppose.
A very nice thing for the Black Sabbath guys to do though.
Wish they'd do a tribute show in the states as well.
I just totally contradicted myself. I want to see it and yet I don't.
Truly wish I made it out to their last tour last summer. I wussed out after debating it seriously. I'm an odd xenophobe. |

Surviving HEAVEN & HELL members Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Vinny Appice will play a very special tribute to their fallen bandmate, Ronnie James Dio, at this year's High Voltage festival on July 24 at Victoria Park in London, England. The musicians will be joined by legendary former DEEP PURPLE and BLACK SABBATH man Glenn Hughes and Norwegian vocalist Jorn Lande.
Proceeds from this performance will go to the Ronnie James Dio "Stand Up And Shout" Cancer Fund.
Speaking to U.K.'s Classic Rock magazine, Iommi said, "We thought it would be nice to do a final thing for Ronnie. To be honest, we didn't expect to be playing again. It's certainly going to be a strange feeling."
He added, "This is going to be the only one. It would have been good, I suppose, for other people to have seen it, but this is something that we needed to do for ourselves as well." |

They should film this and sell the DVD's for proceeds to Stand Up And Shout, for all those who couldn't be there it would be great to have a DVD and still donate for the fund. _________________ So if a stranger sees you

PinkLedRushDio,
You beat me to it. I was just going to ask if I had missed information about the possibility of it being filmed for a future DVD release. I agree, more money for the charity could be raised that way. And those of us who can't make it wouldn't have to miss out.
Should be a heartful performance for everyone, the band and the crowd.

Yes, it sounds logical to me, hopefully someone at Niji is listening... but wouldn't it have to be a Rhino release though since it is Heaven and Hell? _________________ So if a stranger sees you
