I'm not refuting what Dean said but is it not illegal to sell bootlegs? I can see how a couple of hundred vinyl LP pressings wasn't a problem and I actually think they were a wonderful part of the world of serious fandom. But surely a bootleg packaged and sold in the thousands on CD/DVD by the likes of Amazon and Play with two separate labels/distributors behind it must be seriously wrong and fairly easy to block/prosecute?
I'm a bit biased as many years ago I picked up a copy of Evil Eyes, a double vinyl LP from a Holy Diver show at the Manchester Apollo that I have hamered and means as much to me as any official release. But as wrong as it probably is, a limited vinyl pressing bought in a back street collectors shop seems a lot different to this new release.
Hats off to Oli for cancelling though. I guess we should wait for next years Niji bootleg set. I assume that they will only release boots that meet a reasonable standard and will benefit the causes associated with Ronnie.
I always suspected that there was a cash in going on here. But as a fan of all Dio music I feel that I am stuck between a rock and a hard place. Darn it - I'm quite riled now!!!! |

Wow! Glad I cancelled this. There is a growing list of 1 star ratings on Amazon telling of the horrors of this bootleg. It sounds horrific - especially the DVD. Shaky hand held camera footage with poor out of sync sound.
It's unbelievable that Amazon sell this. Particularly given that Niji have contacted that about it.
Roll on the official bootlegs release!!! |
