So, here's a weird topic just for fun. It came to me in a dream about three weeks ago, and if I ever feel the need to write a book about Dio's influence in my life, this will be its title. (I would ask that my fellow fans respect my ownership of "Dio is in My Kitchen"! Laughing)

Anyway, here's my idea for the topic. It's a place to share interesting ways in which we fans experience DIO in our daily lives. Maybe you've had a dream involving the band, or perhaps some of Ronnie's lyrics were especially helpful or inspirational in some particular situation, or maybe you've converted a "non-believer" into a fan! Whatever it is, I know I'm not alone in saying this is more than just music to us!

To start out, I'll share the dream that inspired this topic's title. I was sitting on my bed, in my pajamas, reading a book...when suddenly Doug Aldrich walks in. He sits on the floor next to my bed and I say, "You're Doug Aldrich, right?" and he starts telling me about all the things he's done as a professional musician. Then he gets up and walks out of my bedroom. I get up and follow him to my kitchen, where the rest of the band is standing. I smile and say, "DIO is in my kitchen!" and then I wake up. Weird dream, but it was fun nonetheless.

Now share your stories about DIO's involvement in your daily activities! I've got more...but I hope I'm not alone in this goofy topic Very Happy

Fun topic Fiddlequeen! And, not the least bit goofy, although I'm no judge of goofiness! Laughing

As far as "converting" people, there are a few. They are not full fledged rabid fans like me, but they do have an appreciation for Dio. In fact, one guy I work with (who is strictly Top 40) exclaimed "Omigod! He's amazing." Well, duh! I played All The Fools Sailed Away for this guy (my favorite song by the way!) and he said "I get it, and I totally get you now!"

I have a bunch of stories about ways that Dio gets slipped into life that makes for some funny moments that I call "Dio Moments." I'll share the cutest one.

Last fall we had my youngest niece's birthday party. A bunch of little kids were there (between the ages of maybe 3 and 11) and for whatever reason, they want to play with me. (Mostly because their parents couldn't be bothered to watch them.) It had been raining all day, and they were so restless, so I took them outside when there was finally a break in the rain. The sky was doing some pretty cool stuff. In the east, there was a big dark bank of clouds. The sun was setting in the west....gorgeous....like liquid fire. In the east, there was a rainbow against that dark cloud bank. (I posted a pic of it in the "get well" thread.) One of the kids, Josh, was chattering to me, and I said "Hey Joshie...is that a rainbow?" He looked up, gasped, and said "Oh yes! It's a rainbow....in the DARK!" No kidding! It was so cute! There is no way he could possibly know that song, because his parents aren't cool. Then he starts jumping up and down "There's a rainbow guys!" and the rest of the kids look up. Then I say to little Josh "You know Joshie, a long time ago, some guy wrote a song about that." Then a little girl, Josie, comes up. She's kind of a bossy smarty pants. She says "How can someone write a song about it when it's never happened before?" You know kids, they think they are the only ones to experience anything. Little Josh says "Because he's a GENIUS! Like Einstein!"

Here's the pic again...it's faint, but it's there!

Laughing Wonderful! Such truth in innocence. I love it.

My greatest conversion story is my mother. She wasn't too happy when I got in to Dio...the album covers gave her the wrong impression. For two years I tried to tell her it was excellent music with excellent lyrics, and Ronnie is an excellent man. She allowed it, but wasn't thrilled.

So I made her a compilation of Dio songs I knew she would enjoy. I typed out the lyrics for her, gave her the CD, and told her she should listen to it. She said she would, but not all the time, and that I shouldn't be offended if she didn't enjoy it. I smiled and said I wouldn't be offended, but it just wouldn't happen that she wouldn't like it.

So, she started listening to it every so often. Maybe a month later or so, I awoke one Saturday morning to hear her listening to Master of the Moon (my favorite song!) while baking a cake. There's not much that can start a morning off better than that!

I walked in, put my hand on her shoulder, and said, "You have arrived." She then admitted I had "made a believer" out of her. She listens to it a lot now, and Heaven and Hell, too. My dad has thus been exposed to the power of Dio, and he likes a lot of their songs, too. It is most excellent.

Your mom sounds pretty cool.

My mom thought RJD went to my school. I doodled his name all over my notebooks in junior high and high school. My mom saw it and said "Oh....is this Ronnie in your class?" I said "No Ma. He's a senior." She even looked for him in my yearbook! Laughing

Ha ha. My mom actually is pretty cool (thanks in great part to me!). She told me not too long ago she had a dream in which two old men were arguing near her, and she walked over to them and said, "You're nothing but fools, and all the fools sailed away!"

I must admit to a bit of pride, knowing I've exposed my mother to enough Dio that she dreams of the lyrics.

This is kind of sad.

A friend of mine was diagnosed with stage one stomach cancer. Now, he's following Ronnie's progress, and needless to say, it's giving him a lot of hope. Laughing

Very sorry to hear about your friend, Geisha. I am glad he has an "acquaintance" who is going through the same thing, even if he's not really a big fan of Ronnie. At least he knows of someone who can relate. I am sure you won't let your friend lose hope! Remember Dio fans are the best at dreaming and hoping for the future.

I know some people here are not, but I am a devoutly religious person, and I will remember you and your friend in my prayers, right alongside Ronnie. Be brave, and urge your friend to do the same!

In a slightly related note, I have now had two dreams two nights in a row in which I have spoken personally to Ronnie (he was in my kitchen...I still wonder what it means), and he has told me he has fully recovered. I don't intend to put too much significance in such dreams, as it could just be subconscious wishful thinking, but it has been comforting in some way nonetheless.

That's very kind of you Fiddlequeen. I made a mix CD for my friend, and put some old Elf stuff on it, and he really likes that!

Back to the kitchen...

I'm just going to go ahead and share this. I wasn't going to, but what the heck...

I have a kitchen dream too. Except I'm in Dio's kitchen, and we're washing dishes. I'm washing, he's drying and putting them away since it's his stuff and he knows where it all goes. We just talk about stuff. Sometimes I tell him funny stories or vent. Sometimes he tries to snap me with the towel, or I try to flip water on him.

I'm sure it's all very Freudian!

In one mf my last dreams I dreamed that I'm back in early 60's.I was a young girl living in New York.My boyfriend invite me to concert of some young band. We were a little late,so we went to the club during the concert. I saw a little man with bass guitar and microphone. He had charming smile and amazing eyes. That evening I was looking only for him,and my boyfriend was dissatified of that. I didn't forget about him through years and years. Then my dream has moved to novadays, I was a grandma and I was sitting in my kitchen with my granddaughter. She asked me about my first love.I told her about this little singer. She asked me how was his name. I never knew about his name! She asked me about songs which he sang. I remembered only one title. "Love potion no.9" I said. She checked this title in the net and she said to me that this man is famous singer now and his name is Ronnie James Dio.

I don't know what was later because I woke up ')

I started this topic in hopes it would be a little more popular! That was before the forum was down for a spell, but I admit I haven't been posting because no one else has been. I have decided that's not a good way to be, so I'll share my latest experience with "Dio in My Kitchen."

I have a close friend who is not really a fan of Dio, or of the Dio years of Black Sabbath. However, he has been privileged to have me as a friend, because I have taken him to two Heaven & Hell concerts in recent years. He thoroughly enjoyed both shows (he begrudgingly admitted it after the first concert).

Anyway, I recently purchased Dehumanizer and started listening to it, and I took it upon myself to share the album with my friend. He dutifully listened to it, and now admits he likes it. He also has admitted he had spoken too quickly about disliking certain songs. He'll never be quite the fan I am, but at least he's starting to come around, thanks to my wonderful influence!

So come on, fellow fans, share your stories, too! Surely many of you have some experiences with Dio in daily life. Again, this topic is meant to be about those times when RJD lyrics have helped you out or been applicable to some situation, or times you have shared this music with others and "made believers" out of them, or times maybe you've had dreams about Dio songs or the band or whatever.

Let's make even better use of this forum!

I can relate to this story!
When I was in 8th grade, My brother took me to see Dio on the Sacred Heart tour (my 2nd time after Last in Line tour). A couple days before the show my brothers friend said he could't go because of work issues. So, my brother told me I could invite someone. I invited my best friend at the time, he was my neighbor, a good friend, AND a break dancer LOL. HE didn't like Dio, he didn't even like metal, but he was my best bud. We took him and he was just amazed by the show. I never saw him wear parachute pants or break dance ever again! lol To this very day (20+ yrs later), He LOVES Dio and he LOVES metal \m/

Laughing And I am certain he would enjoy it immensely!

I'm adding photos of some crafts I have created recently with Dio in mind. The first was done last summer--a hand-painted Dio coffee mug. I did it all free-hand, no tracing or anything of that sort. Took me about 4 hours, and I listened to Dio the whole time.

And now the reverse side:

See...Dio really is in my kitchen, every morning!!! Laughing

And here is a simple ceramic tile I created a few weeks ago, in honor of my favorite album. This one took about 3 1/2 hours, with Dio music the whole time! This actually doesn't sit in my kitchen, but I keep it on display 24/7 in my home guitar studio. If my students learn nothing else, at least they'll know who RJD is!

Here is another addition to my collection of Dio-inspired arts and crafts. (This one is now also in my kitchen!)

It's a Heaven & Hell coffee mug this time. This logo was much more difficult for me, probably because I've had far less practice with it. It took about 5 hours. It looks pretty awesome, if I may say so, but I am disappointed with the way the glaze turned out. Some parts look a little splotchy. But I'm proud of it nonetheless. Sorry for the glare in the photos, in case anyone is really looking that closely.

And the other side, with the band members' names:

No Dio-related dreams of late, and no more conversions to fan-ship recently...so for now I guess it will just have to be these tiny physical symbols of how Dio is always in my kitchen.
