|

As many may know Nevermet is currently working on a tribute to Ronnie James Dio. However, I am was going crazy waiting for the tracks to the new song. So I grabbed a karaoke track, and threw down some vocals on a RJD/SABBATH Classic. For those of you that dont realize how Completely Bad Ass Ronnie was, just try singing one of his songs, and you will find out just like I did, He was simply the greatest Vocalist of all time, and cant be duplicated ( I actually already knew that ). My vocal pales in comparison, and even though I've been a proffesional vocalist almost my whole life, Singing Ronnie's song made me feel like an amatuer. RIP Ronnie, You were and always will be the man.
Check it out, and try not to beat me up too much for the weak vocal. I did it in one take.

Cant believe he's been gone for a month now
I would like to add (after reading about bands capitalizing on Ronnie's Death) that the tribute song planned by Nevermet will be submitted to Wendy, and if she gives us the okay, then we will work with Stand up and Shout to release the song for charity purposes. If she does not give us the go ahead, we will not release the song for our own personal gain. We love Ronnie, and this is purely out of respect and love for him and his music. _________________ Check out Al Diamond Phillips/Nevermet on the web

I received this today from Wendy, and I am very happy that she approves of our effort. Of course this is still not a song approval and my previous statement stands in regards to our tribute. She has the final say. anyway here is her response.
Dear Al,
I know your heart is in the right place, and that you truly want the song to be a tribute to Ronnie.
Kind regards,
Wendy _________________ Check out Al Diamond Phillips/Nevermet on the web

Of course, none of us fans would ever claim to be able to do what Ronnie could, but I think this track is actually quite good.
I would like to commend you for the classy way in which you are going about this. It is a wonderful mark of respect for Ronnie, that you are using proper channels for this tribute project by going forward only with Wendy's approval. Sickening, isn't it, what some people will use to generate their own fame and fortune? I'm more proud each day to be among this family of genuine fans who will always have the greatest love and respect for Ronnie and Wendy. _________________ "You'll never make me be like you. Some of the newer members may not know this but the DIO Forum band grew of out of love for Ronnie James Dio's music...nearly 3 years ago.
You should checkout the Nevermet topic in Music Makers section. |

They may also not realize that Holymagica has done all of our videos, and should check out his poll for the best Nevermet video in the General Music Chat _________________ Check out Al Diamond Phillips/Nevermet on the web

Received the initial Guitar track this morning from GG, and forwarded it to Scott for Drums/Percussion. I am really excited about this song. I cant wait too put vocals on it, and pay tribute the best way I know how. _________________ Check out Al Diamond Phillips/Nevermet on the web

Just to throw out an update GG sent the wrong track, and it is missing some parts. So we are waiting on the finished Guitar track to get things going again.
I guess nobody said recording with guys online was going to be easy. Thats what makes Nevermet such a cool gig though _________________ Check out Al Diamond Phillips/Nevermet on the web

Wow awesome job on the vocals. Sounded quite a bit like Rob Halford to me, and that's darn good company. I hated the drum tracks though, but that's because I'm a drummer and I pay more attention to that stuff than the ordinary person would. Great job though, that song is what got me into Dio and it's very near to my heart. _________________ So if a stranger sees you

Hey, not too bad.
I have gone around looking for Dio covers. By now, maybe I've heard many dozens upon dozens.
Most Dio covers totally suck. You're not Dio, but this was really not too bad an effort considering who you're covering. Your vocal range is decent, and for the most part you sang it in tune.
Cheers!

GG sent me the guitar track for our tribute, but now Scott is heading off on tour with YOSO, so if he cant get the Drums done in the next day or so we will have to wait even longer. _________________ Check out Al Diamond Phillips/Nevermet on the web

I talked to Scott, and he has a break at the end of the month before the YOSO tour hits Europe, He is going to try and get the Drum tracks done at that time. _________________ Check out Al Diamond Phillips/Nevermet on the web
