My family does not know the history of RJD. but they know what he means to me (yes I said means) I still care and love the guy and always will. They (my family) are the reason I was at his memorial, without their help I could not have made it. They may not know Ronnie but they are thankful in the way he treated and cared about me whever he saw me.

As for my friends new and old they knew how much I love Ronnie and all the members of both DIO and Heaven and Hell. when it hit the news that Ronnie had passed on each and everyone of them who knew about my friendship with Ronnie emailed me or left postings on my facebook to make sure I was ok.

So I guess you can say I have a little of both. Some friends have no clue as to who RJD is..... lol

I think the only ones who " get it," are you guys here on this forum. My hubby was sympathetic at first as he knows that Ronnie means a lot to me. He doesn't know how much he means to me though. Now a few weeks have passed I think everyone expects me to be over it and I can just see the look on my husbands face every time I mention Ronnie so I just bite my lip and keep it all inside Sad
Ronnie's passing has hit me like a ton of bricks. I poured out my feelings on a few of my posts here . Everyone here has been great and has helped more than you could ever know.
I know my life should be the same as it was before. Ronnie was not there in a physical way. I had never even met him. Everything that was there before is still there, the music, his words and his image are forever frozen in time, but I still feel so empty Sad

Rainbow,

I know how you feel. I look at this website, and Dio is all over it. Besides the forum, I don't think there is any mention of him not being with us anymore.

I hate that he is gone. I watch footage of him recently and think,"He looked like he was going to be all right. How?"

Then I try to think that he is more powerful now that his soul is set free. He can roam the world now that it is free from the body, invade our hearts and minds.

I always thought he would be here longer than most singers. He took care of himself. I guess he outlived some rock musicians, but selfishly, I wanted him here longer, too.

Jeffrey

It doesn't really matter if no one around you gets it, We are the ones that do, so come here and be part of the family, and we can keep the memory and the dream alive for all to share.

I check many forums, always looking to get ideas for topics Embarassed
And I have seen lots of Ronnie James Dio topics, even before his passing, My Dying Bride,Tarja, Hammerfall, Kamelot etc.
The admin at Hammerfall even got in touch with myself .

Hail, RJD! R.i.p.Tragic and sad, we all mourn the loss of one of heavy metals original legends, unbelievable voices and all-around nice guys. I'm seeing it everyday on Blabbermouth and other forums as well
Ronnie may just be one man but he has touched a nation.

The emotional impact of Ronnie's death for me has been comparable to that of each of my grandparents. Sad

To me as well Smile

Sad fact for today...That some younger Metal fans just don't care about the legends, they are feed this rubbish watered down version from the metal media.''

Is that really new, though? I "came of age" during the height of the hair-metal era; I seem to recal a lot of "watered down rubbish" being fed to radio & MTV by the media as "metal" then, as well.

Now...somebody who really gets it...my husband. He upgraded us to the next satellite package (he was going to anyway, he "just never got around to it") for the sole purpose of me watching the Golden Gods. Wink Yeah, Hubs is a keeper!

Cool I'm hoping that show is made available for those of us who weren't able to catch it on TV (TV isn't a priority for us, so we've just got rabbit ears.) I've only seen the bits that are on YouTube, and I'd like to see the whole thing. I checked iTunes and the websites of VH1, Revolver, etc, but no sign of a way to view/buy the show.

I didn't mean that his passing isn't mentioned on other websites, I was referring to this "DIO" website in particular. On Ronnie's Bio, I think he is still referred to in the present tense. I'm not complaining, I'm not ready to see it change yet.

Sorry for the confusion. Yes, I read so many artists on other websites expressing sorrow, sharing their memories about Ronnie. He touched so many. Influenced so many.

Laughing Linda, that was probably the last program I watched all the way through! Laughing I don't watch much TV either, and, here's the funny part, I work at a TV station. I could live without TV, and probably the internet too! Surprised

Oh...hair metal...ugh! Every time I give my little Top 40 friend crap over that, he says "once upon a time metal was Top 40!" I immediately correct him and say..."Oooohhhhhh Nooooooo sweetie." Now he wants me to make him a Dio anthology of sorts.
