Something made me remember to bring this topic up...
Has anyone else ever often thought about the placement of song order in a album by Dio?
I tried thinking back, hey... theres been a lot of albums released and i'm not exactly a young'in anymore, lol. But I started thinking to myself, would any of this had a change, direction or different out come on anything. Such as how radio stations back in the day seemed to only play what they wanted or felt we liked.
I often wondered why certain tracks / songs didn't make that cut?
I know I used to re-arrange my favorite songs on cassette tape back we we only had records, plus I played the drums and dude, how the records skipped when playing drums, lol.
But I remember playing the record and putting together tapes in the order I wanted songs to play.
I often think about SET LISTS too, how Dio would go on stage and perform the tracks / songs. Was there a reason or not for certain songs to be played, based on location, the feel in the air or etc. I'm pretty sure like I've heard Ronnie mention how much he himself liked Magica. I know we can all dress ourselves at times and not have a care in the world for how others may see us...
I wonder at times, what songs... Ronnie had to play because they became favorites versus what his own were?
Does anyone get that?
I'm sure like myself, I like doing things... not many of us can say they love their job or what they do at it. But you'd think Ronnie loved his job, what he did to make a living. Or like myself, he would of just quit it. He did it, he liked it and thats that.
But what do you think he liked most about it?
I'd have to say everything!
So that leaves me with the idea, what songs do you think he liked the most, but they didn't become per'say his favorites over others he might of liked more so. Is there a reason why, albums have songs in such and such order, but stage shows are the way he set them up... It's become a topic of discussion now.
Let us ask one another?
I think you have to agree that Ronnie enjoyed his job, and I bet he liked certain songs more than others too. What do you think of his statement of or about Magica?
I honestly never got into "Magica" like HOLY DIVER or LIVE EVIL. Those are my times, my favorite music by Ronnie. But as a fan too, I started to really enjoy the tone / direction / change coming from running with the new stuff, like LORD of the LAST DAY. I could see how he / the band too, slowed down everything. But it brought back that sound I hadn't heard in years, the sound that just cut thru everything and made it clear, we're here & we mean business!
Magica went out there and it was hard for me to keep going along with it, I enjoyed it non the less though, but not like LOTLD.
That song just sliced thru everything and said, "HEY"
*your thoughts / opinions?
I gotta go with Ronnie, if he liked Magica that much then I'm missing something... and must go back, maybe its the mood or settings around me. I'm gonna try re-listening to Magica in every aspect for the next few days to see how it plays out for me.
I can't wait to hear, read or find out what is being released concerning Magica 2 & 3. Maybe that would help me to pick up where Dio left off.
What do you guys think was Ronnie's favorite song to perform? |
