I was in the perfect mood for it and listening to Elf on the way into Denver yesterday. It's the album with 'Nevermore' on it.
It's so not 'metal,' but it has such a 'classic' feel in its tone.
If you're only familiar with Ronnie crooning heavy metal, I so have to suggest these recordings. It exhibits how he was so capable of jumping into different styles of singing.
His voice is so crisp and young in these recordings.
It's really interesting to contrast this style to his later work, esp in sabbath and on Holy Diver.
He could be bluesy, sing softly and beautifully, and growl unlike any other I've ever heard.
I can't think of another artist who went on so long with music and has such a rich catalog of diverse work/styles.

I've been really enjoying this the past several days.
Hope it's ok to post.

Beautiful words and melody. Esp the vocal harmonies I hear in it. _________________ "Too many flames, with too much to burn, and life's only made of paper." - RJD |
