I have this on both LP and CD and love it to bits. It was released the year after I first saw Dio live and the sound of this recording is just immense.
Vinny's drums sound killer and are very accurate of the live sound Dio had at the time. Time to Burn is a studio cut and doesnt really fit the rest of the album as conpared to the live works is quite a tame track.....doesnt mean I dont like it though!
I have been listening to this a lot recently........I must get the LP out and take a look at the postcards that came with it! The other cool thing is that the cover is the same as the Sacred Heart tour programme.
I would love for there to be a release of the entire show complete with all the solos.......come on Niji - you know you wanna!! LOL! _________________ Stand up and Shout!!!!! |

In my opinion this is the worst album Ronnie Dio has ever released, including the Elf albums. OK I like Time to Burn, but it doesn't really fit in on this live-album.
Even the sound on YouTube- videos from this tour sounds better than on this album. I don't understand why this album was released.
Sacred Heart "the DVD" is amazing and how I want to remember this Dio era, Intermission is just sad.
Sorry, that's me. |

I think we shall have to agree to disagree on the sound of this album - I think sound wise it is very close to how the band sounded on the sacred heart tour......
Now as I recall, and I am happy to be corrected, but Ronnie wanted to release a full double live album but the record company thought he was releasing too much music so the EP was decided upon.
I think Time to Burn was addded just to have a track from Craig (and probably as a stab at Viv Campbell)....but thats just my own cynical view! _________________ Stand up and Shout!!!!! |

Don't know if this is a reliable source but:
"The band needed a new axeman to record the song “Time to Burn” for the live EP and they brought in Craig Goldie. Ronnie initially wanted to release a full blown live album but the record company passed on the idea, instead they opted for an EP. There was some speculation that Ronnie and the group were not very happy with the final product and they showed that disdain when they titled the EP, “Intermission”. The six song EP hit stores in 1986 but didn’t create much of a stir in metal circles."

You can trawl the internet and find many different explanations for the EP...........I'll see if I can find the interview where Ronnie states his side of things........ _________________ Stand up and Shout!!!!! |

The problem with this recording is the actual sound production and mix, it let`s the whole album down. Top highlight the Man On The Silver Mountain medley, the record company were in a rush to put out a live Dio album. Special From The Spectrum blows this out of sight, PowerKnight _________________ Joust With Thee
