The first UK CD release omitted "War Pigs" (or "Warpigs" as it was titled in the explanation for its cutting, printed on the rear of the tray-insert), so as to fit onto a single CD. The 1996 UK remaster restored this track but cut much of the stage banter, so as to again fit onto a single CD: this reduced the 'live' feel of the recordings.
In the US Warner Brothers released a 2CD set, which matched the running-order of the vinyl. Each of these WB CDs came in its own jewel-case, complete with artwork, rather than a 2CD jewel-case.
Band
Ronnie James Dio – vocals
Tony Iommi – guitar
Geezer Butler – bass guitar
Vinny Appice – drums
Geoff Nicholls – keyboards |

The real highlight has to be Heaven and Hell the title track, here it took a whole new dimension with Ronnie using the ad-lib and improvisations and taking this song into territories Sabbath had never been in before. Something Ozzy couldn`t muster and this as far as I am concerned is the definitive Heaven and Hell track performed live from out of the whole lot. I`m yet to hear any better than this, like Rainbow`s Stargazer live and Zeppelin`s Dazed And Confused live it`s of the very highest calibre period. PowerKnight _________________ Joust With Thee

I totally agree... Ozzy couldn't muster anything even close to Dio's super olympian singing on this album. Still not as good as the Rainbow live tracks to me, but I love this album.
Ahhhh, what would the 70s and 80s metal have turned out like if Ozzy had never been, and Dio were hired by Sabbath in 1970? A metal head can dream. I'm sure that's exactly what happened in some alternate universe. _________________ "Too many flames, with too much to burn, and life's only made of paper." - RJD |

Very controversial album, I enjoy most of it, but I do think it definitely could have been better. Dio does a good job on some of the Ozzy tunes here, but others it just doesn't go for me. I'll be getting Hammersmith soon so I can compare. I have a feeling it will be a bit better. Great live album that everyone should own though. _________________ So if a stranger sees you

| I first heard most of the old Sabbath material on this album sung by ronnie. When I heard it later by Ozzy it was like a cold shower .Why is Ozzy in showbiz ? Anyone of us could sing like Ozzy, but noone like Ronnie. |

I agree and disagree, no one can sing like Ronnie, but no one can sing like Ozzy either. He does have a unique voice you know. _________________ So if a stranger sees you
