Letter to Wendy Dio,
It is hard to know where to start. But the obvious is that I am a fan and always will be. I have fond memories of seeing Rainbow in concert as a teenager and consider it a privilege to have seen Ronnie in person and to have enjoyed listening to his music since the 70’s, when I first heard him. I still have albums on vinyl and of course CD’s of most of his work with Rainbow, Sabbath and Heaven and Hell. He was to me one of the best vocalist, lyricist, musicians and people to grace the genre of music he so loved, created and shared with us all. He is and always will be at the top of my favorite vocalist list. We are all blessed to have his talent and body of work forever saved on recordings and videos. He has truly left his mark on this world and his fans everywhere. Long after he has left us, people will be enjoying and even discovering his work for generations to come. He is now a legacy. Not many people can claim this kind of accomplishment. But we can’t forget what a great caring person he was and how he was always loyal to his fans.
On a personal note, I can only imagine what you feel. I too have lost love ones and friends over the years. You have lost a soul mate, which must seem unbearable. But keep him in your heart and know you were blessed to have been a part of his life for as long as you have. You have been given a privilege many of us only dream of, to have shared your life and cherished moments with such a wonderful and talented person. Keep your chin up and god bless. I don’t know if anyone can miss him as much as you, but I know you are not alone in your grief and I hope you hold the cherished moments close to your heart. And I hope soon they will bring a smile to your face.
I know when my cousin and lifelong friend died a few years ago, I wrote him a song to deal with the grief and I tried to remember the fun times and keep my spirits high. Perhaps if you keep yourself busy with a project or documentary regarding Ronnie, you will find yourself smiling at the fond memories in no time. We love you and wish you well.
Regards,
Dean |
