Thanks For Saving My Life

When Holy Diver came out I was a young lad, getting ready to take on the world. I had just lost my Grandfather who also past away battling cancer. He was my rock and had adopted me when my parents left me on his doorstep, watching him go from a rock solid man, hard working man, to what cancer done to him was tough to witness, and losing him devistated me. He was a fighter until the end. He was also the rock to my entire family and the loss was a blow to us all I guess, and sadly it divided my family. I was black balled because of the divide. I turned to drugs and alcohol for comfort but we all know that doesn't work well, I was at rock bottom. It was at the same time Holy Diver was released and I heard Rainbow in the Dark for the first time. It was as if Ronnie had written that song for me personally, as if through him my grandfather Ronnie was telling me to find peace. To this day that song will forever hold a place in my heart, it may have actually saved my life as I truly was a Rainbow in the Dark.

To Wendy, I feel your pain and loss. I know to you Ronnie was more than a rock star. Just know even though I have never met any of you, I know how you feel. I hope that comforts you as it is hard to find your way when something like this happens. try to stay positive and remember all the good things he brought to this world. I will along with you and his fans, will never forget him either.
Ronnie and my grandfather are at peace now with no more suffering that they both are no longer Rainbows in the Dark. As is my grandfather is to my heart and soul Ronnie is to yours, he is still in your heart and in your soul and that will never fade away.

God bless you RJD and for all the music you provided for us fans. You will never be forgotten, as for me I will pass the torch to my children and tell them my stories one day of how powerful the impact of one simple song can possibly save the life of another simple soul. It did for me.
