I know some of you guys like him, but he is a very messy player copared to Craig. i'd rather see a new guitarist up there with Dio than Doug. Craig is the number one Dio guitar player without a doubt (just count the albums he is on)
i will still be there as i am not going to completely throw my teddies out of the cot. needless to say this has taken the shine off it for me. i think i'd rather the tour be put back so Craig could do it.

I have no said some pretty bad things about Doug Aldrich but it mostly been about the fact...I am a die hard Marsden/Moody fan when it comes to Whitesnake...so it was always gonna be hard for me to accept anyone but Marsden/Moody playing Whitesnake songs. But I will admit not all of his performances with Whitesnake have been bad.
Really its not his playing that is the problem...its just the tone and sound, maybe its his gauge of guitar strings....I don't know but at times it did not sound right for me.
Thats it really its all about the sound and mix.
So I must really be apologetical here towards Doug Aldrich and thank him for joining the band for this tour .
Becoz I would have hated the thought of this tour not happening.
Thank You Doug Aldrich for thinking of the DIO fans and the DIO band.

I am really sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad that Craig Goldy will not be playing and I bet he is pretty sad as well but what can you do when you are playing with legends Budgie in Oz.
Not sure how many folks are into Budgie but the band are amazing live, saw them in the 80s.I don't know if any of you folks have seen some of the live stuff on Youtube of Goldy playing with Budgie Shocked
But check it out becoz its simply awesome!!!
Goldy is playing better than I ever see him Exclamation ...Can't wait for him to get into the studio with Ronnie James Dio becoz I am sure we are gonna get some amazing new riffs and solos from Craig Goldy.

I have only seen Dio once - with Craig. and it was awesome

judging from dvds - I prefer Craig to Doug - but I'm confident it will be great nevertheless

I must be in the minority in saying that I highly rate the work Doug has done with Dio and that he is a better showman than Craig and having seen all incarnations of Dio it is my personal view that Doug lifts the show. I am not slating Craig at all, he is an amazing player, but personally Doug doing this tour adds something for me......but everyone has their own views on who they like. All I will say is I am damn happy these dates are happening!!

I am really sad that Claig will not be playing this time.
Doug is of course a brilliant guitarist, but he has a different color.

I think that Claig is the best player who makes DIO DIO.
I love his play and his guitar sound fits so nicely to DIO.

I wanted to see Claig in London and Birmingham.

The only live footage I've seen of Dio has been Holy Diver LIVE...but I think Doug Aldrich did a fantastic job on that gig. He's an amazing guitarist, no doubt. I heartily approve.

Still, I think my favorite Dio guitarist is Craig Goldy. I haven't seen him play live (*still patiently waiting for a US tour!!!*) but I really love his style on everything he's done with Dio.

Personally, I wouldn't complain about any Dio guitarist, as long as I was getting to see them live on stage!

Why can't we all just be happy? Very Happy

**Ducks**

Seriously folks its been awhile since Doug has played with the DIO camp, I saw him a few year ago when he was on tour with Alice Cooper, the man did a fine job. Musicans are constantly changing the way they play to try and better themselves. I say give Doug a break and be happy you get DIO finally!! Twisted Evil

We are happy and thankful to Doug, and he will get a warm welcome at the gigs from the fans, its just natural for us to feel sad that Craig Goldy will not to be there.
We have really missed Goldy Exclamation

I am just delighted that Dio is on the road!!!!!!!! Doug playing is, for me, a real bonus. but lets be honest most of us are into this band because of Ronnie.....at the end of the day he is the only constant!!

i always thought that doug added something to the gig that wasn't always there with craig playing. a bit of "flash", a bit of rock star attitude. that might be for good or bad depending on your opinion.

short of ronnie making up with vivian campbell and doing a Last In Line tour (forget all that "evilest man in the music business/ he smells like a spaniard, i hope he dies" stuff!) getting doug back on board gets my vote.

time to be killing the dragon again!.

I am 100% with Olivious the Drummer and Denzel Dragon when i say that Doug brings something extra to the band. I have seen both - Craig on the 2004 G Hits/MOTM tour and Doug on the Holy Diver tour in 2005 and i felt that Doug won on every count - flash, solos, energy. Absolutely nothing against Craig whose work on Dio albums is amazing but on the 2004 tour he was a bit withdrawn i felt and his performance was very much lowkey. Compare that to the Holy Diver tour DVD and the energy and playing Doug brings BUT i do understand that Craig may have had some health problems around that time so that has to be taken into account.

I do like Criag very much and was chuffed to bits when i finally saw him in 2004 but i am more than happy that i am seeing Doug play live again in Dio - i feel that this is where he belongs and not just a hired hand in Coverdales screeching banshee wailing circus.

I have seen both craig an doug on different tours at the house of blues in new orleans. They are both great players with their own style. As long as i get to see dio either one fits the bill just fine!! like i said no matter who is playing it will always be DIO!!!!!!!!!

Absolutely right--and I'd like to take this as another opportunity to say we're due for a US Tour!!! Craig or Doug, I'd be ecstatic either way!
