First of all, my dad got the date wrong so me, him and a couple of mates ended up outside Newcastle academy on the wrong day (day before) so we went for a curry, saw a terrible terrible punk rock band trying to do punk versions of rock hits.
When the day came we got what we came for, oh yes.
My first time seeing them and the bassist was incredible, who I was told was NOT Pete Way but a look-alike and sound-alike called Barry Sparks who was just so damn incredible its not possible to put it into words, I mean Vinnie Moore was great and all but as a bassist my eyes and ears were on the bass until Rock Bottom started playing and for that 20 minutes following the opening riff, my jaw. Hit the ground.
Seriously guitar solos bass solos, harmonies. AND the atmosphere and stage presence they had together was worth the entire night. If the gig stopped there right after that I'd have been content.
Which it didn't gladly as I got to hear Doctor Doctor and Shoot Shoot... holy crap I just noticed the similarities of names, good encore lineup! lol!!!!
