Hello guys,
About a week or so ago, my next to oldest son, Scotty called me and asked if his 'new band' could come up and practice/record some. I of course, asked him "Is this a paying gig"? I got the usual response...."Oh DAD!" ;-)
Anyway, he had only been with these guys about 2 weeks, and although, I know Scotty is quite a good drummer/guitarists, I wasn't expecting too much. What showed up, was a bunch of 'kids'....Scotty is 16, one guitarists was 16, other 18, singer, 17, etc.
After they started playing some of their stuff....I got a bit more interested....and 'suggested' we record one of their tunes...
Anyway...long story short...here it is...it's NOT perfect...it's a quick take...and a pretty quick mix....can't afford to mess with it too long...when I have 'real' work to do...but let me know what ya think.....BE WARNED.....it's pretty heavy stuff....played, recorded, mixed to be listened to at 'Maximum Volume' as Grand Funk, put it many years ago...on their American Band LP!

For those interested, and to my best memory, the drums are my studio set, the Gretsch Maple Catalina's, One guitar was a ESP, Dean or something kind of shredder, other one was a ....hell...can't remember...main amp, my Bugera 333. That thing has turned into quite the studio workhorse...EVERYONE loves it, no matter what the genre! Other amp was the trustyr Berry 60 watt, stereo head, the one with the 'analog' modeling.
Leads were done with the Bugera, and the 'warm' lead was made using my GX ES 335 clone, into my Blackheart head, with a bit of boost from a Blues Overdrive unit, and I had Scotty 'hold' the WAH down just a bit to a certain point, while the kid did the lead...gave it a bit of a cool tone...
Bass was DI'd using my HHB-Radius 5 FAT Man 2 Pre. _________________ Calcitra Clunis |
