I gave my reply before but thought i would add that at one time i would have included Mr Ian Gillan but after seeing him on Purple's 2004 tour i changed my mind. Was it just me or did it seem like he and the rest of them were going through the motions? I was bored by the endless keyboard/guitar solos not to mention they didnt do Black Night (they did it at London, surprise, surprise and Jon Lord guested for it!!) or Child In Time. Gillan spent half his time reciting poetry rather than knocking off another song or two. Maybe im just bitter because i had been watching the Hell or High Water video just before with Ritchie B on guitar and that was magic - But Steve Morse and Co - no spark, nothing to get excited about. Comments??

Almost IMPOSSIBLE to list just 3--how 'bout five instead?

1. RJD
2. Rob Halford
3. Robert Plant
4. Bruce Dickinson
5. Ian Gillan

Hated like hell to leave out Coverdale and Geoff Tate, but they just have to be content with "high honorable mention" because they are slightly below the above list as far as the total picture of what a vocalist should be(and not just technical prowess)...

Wow i really figured that i'd be the only one to put Klaus.
If i had to replace him with someone else i'd probably pick Geoff Tate or Robert Plant. Zeppelin is more hard rock than Metal to me, but without Zeppelin there wouldn't be metal!!!

Black Sabbath was the first truly metal band, but it was bands like Zeppelin and Deep Purple that helped form the creation of metal. They wern't really metal themselves but they set everything up.
