Why they clueless? Is it because some rockers speak against it? that's just an act. You know, the whole rock n' roll rebellion thing. Mostly punk rockers do the whole us against society thing, but some common rockers do the same. For example, when the Queen knighted Sir Mick Jagger, Keith Richards was seriously worried about accepting the title would hurt the band's image because it's such a formal title. So they whole thing is about image.

You got that right! I have yet to see any mainstream so-called authority on music to make any sence with their choices... they're all full of CRAP! Evil or Very Mad
They have no idea what HOOK really is.

The HOF is a business, and they choose inductees based on who they think will make them money. Thats why a guy like Clapton is in for three different bands, in three different inductions. However, money aside, it really all comes down to Wenner and who he wants in for what ever reason. He picks and chooses who gets in regardless of what the membership votes on. Thats why I do not go and have never gone to the HOF. I have a friend who is performing at the Inductions he is in the Band for Little Anthony and the Imperials, but I still will not go. Not until Grand Funk, Kiss, and Ronnie James Dio are in will I pay to get into the sham!

Well it took long enough for Sabbath to be inducted didn't it. I believe Ronnie is thought of being under the Sabbath umbrella. We know the truth is that Ronnie actually took a bigger roll than credited for by directed Sabbath into the Medieval theme and spanning this whole theme into 80's metal. Seems that Iron Maiden got the credit for the influence, not Ronnie. I talked about coincidence between the making of Heaven and Hell and and how the Iron Maiden coincidentally traded in their original singer for a Operatic style singer after the release of Heaven and Hell, but I was opposed by even people here at this site for stating that Ronnie was an influence to Iron Maiden. Actually I said that Ronnie was more than just an influence. It was something more like Iron Maiden jacked Ronnie's supply.

On another note, who in their right mind names a band Rainbow? Ok, so maybe at that time, the word rainbow just being adapted as the symbol for gays, and the word rainbow was kinda a left over word that related to the 60s but it still sounded gay before it was actually gay. What's up with the record company not convincing them to not use that name? Even the record company must of been on acid. The word, "Metallica" sounds like a metal band. People often judge the book by the cover. The over all thing I'm saying is Rainbow had really good music, but the name was a disservice. Think sales would be poor if instead of Charger, Dodge called the car, The Pony? Pony sounds gay no matter how masculine the car looks.

There have been some heated discussions about the sabbath induction, but it is my understanding that they ignored everyone else under the sabbath umbrella and only give credit to Ozzy. It was probably so that he would accept and they could make money. Ozzy for years said the HOF was Bullshit, and asked "who are these people" as if to say they didnt have anymore credibility than a person off te street. In the end he went in, and Ronnie was denied his rightful place in the hall with Sabbath.

Back to topic though Randy Rhoads should be in the hall as a side man, or legendary guitarist. they always talk about the influence factor, and if you ask any guitarist from our generation who their influences were, almost all of them will say Randy. He inspired a generation of rockers, that is HOF material if I ever heard it.

Yes Randy really had what we all want, talent, schooling..the works all around. I should dig out some of that stuff, oddly enough i have a Guitar One mag. that has what THEY said were the worst guitar tones ever written by some DICK named Michael Mueller .. he said Randy was good but had horrible tone, he also listed Joe Satriani. Some of who he said was true suck as Korn and Billy Corgan, but i think he's most likely one of thoughs FAGS who don't like a lot of distortion used.. who knows.. who cares.. i only get those mags. for equipment hook up maps and gear info the rest is all trash like any other media. Rolling Eyes

I know it pissed me off also. The odd thing about tone is that if recording with a Mic, as most do, the placement of that mic can make or break ones sound, you can get any sound or tone you want as long as the original signal is strong, it can really be shaped by just a small move here or there, that is as long as you're using a condensor mic, a lot harder with any other mic.

It was 27 years ago today that we lost him. There is no way of ever knowing just what we were denied when the plane crashed.

Rest In Peace, Randy.....

Many times they'll say shit just for shock value. Sell some more mags by saying controversial or opposite opinion things. Maybe make a drama about it. There are all kinds of writing techniques for this.

Keep in mind though that music is based on a scale. Scales are mathematical. Therefore music has a boundary. I know artist don't like to be limited by boundaries, but there are only so many possibilities in music. We have now reached the boundary. It is called sonic (sound) conclusion. This is why you hear many new hit songs made from songs that where hits, 30 years ago and there is no law suit. It is a double whammy for the record company and about 1/4 whammy for the original musicians and song writers who own copy writes. Example is the Offspring song that sounds exactly like The Beatles song; Ob-la-di-bla-da. We never heard of a law suit because a deal was made before hand.

So logically, weather it Jimmy Hendrix, Randy Roads, Elvis, or any other who died, others naturally continued to evolve music with or with out them.

Any song that has been copyrighted can be used as long as it is paid for. however when an artist changes the original composition, they must get permission to do so. Most artists will allow the change if there looks like there will be enough money in it. But not always.
Some newer artists also just do what they want, and hope they have changed it enough to get away with it. Of course we all saw Vanilla Ice get taken to the cleaners by Queen, because he thought adding one note was enough of a change only to find out it wasnt.
