Obviously Europe etc. are finally catching on to what we in the states knew thirty years ago, that Ronnie James Dio is one of the greatest shows on Earth. Very Happy And I'm glad that the rest of the world is actually catching on. Heavy Metal is new to many people, as it was actually prohibited in some places over there. Confused However I understand this concern, as it seems that many in the U.S. are now pre-occupied today with utter non-sense! Also, it seems that many have just forgotten...I call this phenomena "Spoiled & Jaded" Rolling Eyes

Do you really think Europe has been playing catch up with Ronnie James Dio Shocked I don't think so,he plays in Europe almost every year since the release of Holy Diver.
Heavy Metal is not prohibited in some places over here Laughing
They could not even ban Metal in Communist Russia,I think you would be very surprised by how diverse the media in Europe is towards Metal and other genres of Music as well.
While Heavy Metal was dying in the USA,The Europeans started ''hybridizing''this was not popular in USA,of course some of the sub-genres of Heavy Metal are not to everyones taste but it moved forward in Europe,I believe the real heart beat of Heavy Metal is individualism,no matter what music you like or hate...nothing can stop you for enjoying it...Not even the Government or the Church can constrained Heavy Metal and thats one of Heavy Metal's best qualities. Wink

Well Heavy Metal Fans seem to have certainly become more concentrated on that side of the pond in recent years, & it has been my long time understanding that in some parts of the world that people were indeed arrested for listening! What was that called again? Was it not the Iron Curtain Twisted Evil

What Mysterioman says is right, the wars are getting us nowhere,
Only a fool would say that the occupation of Iraq is not a disaster,Afghanistan is a different matter and I do think we are making a difference even if it is slow. Now I hope my Government does not even think about Iran, until it does something about the Robert Mugabe regime in Zimbabwe.
Governments call Iraq a bad fight meaning there is lots of political risks...well it cost Tony Blair his job in the end,but Zimbabwe would be a good fight, the world would look at the Britain and the USA in a different light if we did something there and of course South Africa has to get off its arse and do something as well.
Thanx Smile

You have your opinion. Only a fool would call the activity in Iraq "occupation"........liberation of a people is more accurate, remember the guy that was in charge? Tony Blair is a hero.

Britain and the U.S. need to let the rest of the world worry about Zimbabwe, let some of the free-loading countries do some of this work. ie France or the totally worthless U.N.

My opinion is and always has been that RONNIE at his age should decide whether he wants H AND H or DIO. IT IS TOO MUCH FOR HIM TO DO BOTH AND KEEP STANDARDS HIGH AFTER ALL HE IS A PERFECTIONIST. The majority of fans are fans of Ronnie but there are fans of the band DIO, he cannot keep using DIO as a safety net when other projects stop, what if MR BLACKMORE decided on a rainbow re-union ?...anyone ? ..... once agian DIO would be discarded......there is a certain excellent guitarist named DOUG who must thank his lucky stars he chose WHITESNAKE rather than a return to DIO cos where would that have gotten him...?...unemployed..!!!!!!!

Lemmy once said that sales determine if promoters will book shows
for tours, so what ive gathered is if sales are slow in certain countries or cities and theres no money to be made, the economics tells you its not viable, voila they go to where the monies are, would this be a fair statement????

Why should he come to the US and play shitty little clubs if he doesn't have to? The only way he can come here and tour major venues is with H&H. With Dio he plays to more people and makes more money overseas; it's really as simple as that. And it's ridiculous to suggest that touring in the UIS will improve sales. When you're playing 2000 seat clubs most of the audience are people that probably bought the album anyway.

I wouldn't be suprised if it turns out that Dio's days as a recording band are over. H&H is a lot more lucrative; he'll stick with it for as long as he can. Simple economics.

Does Ronnie not think he's strong enough to hold Dio anymore?
BTW what is up with Dio doing a christmas album? That's makes no sense to me whatsoever. I would love to hear him sing chestnuts roasting on an open fire by a fire Laughing but I'm a little turned off by the christmas album thing. Anyone else? Is it just me? I will probably end up liking it anyways but it makes no sense. It makes no sense!

Hehe, the Christmas album... Very Happy

First I was like - what the hell is that??? But one thing is for sure, if Ronnie didn't like it he wouldn't have done it. So let's just listen to it and then we'll see. I hope it will be funny at least.

The reason Dio doesn't tour this country is because this country is so trendy. It is also true about the radio stations. In Philadelphia you only hear Black Sabbath with Ozzy you never hear Black Sabbath with RJD. Even Dio music where two of his concerts were filmed at the Spectrum in Philadelphia. Radio stations play for the ratings that is all they care about. So what is he suppose to do.I would do the same thing I would tour where I am appreciated as an artist. It is a shame the music business has changed so much it will never be what it was in 80's. I am glad RJD is in Heaven and Hell we will get to see him perform and I can't wait.

A guy calls a company and orders their 5-day, 10 lb. weight loss program.
The next day, there's a knock on the door and there stands before him a
Voluptuous, athletic, 19 year old babe dressed in nothing but a pair of Nike
running shoes and a sign around her neck. She introduces herself as a
Representative of the weight loss company. The sign reads, 'If you can catch
me, you can have me.' Without a second thought, he takes off after her. A
few miles later huffing and puffing, he finally gives up. The same girl
shows up for the next four days and the same thing happens. On the fifth
day, he weighs himself and is delighted to find he has lost 10 lbs. as
promised. He calls the company and orders their 5-day/20 pound pro gram. The
next day there's a knock at the door and there stands the most stunning,
beautiful, sexy woman he has ever seen in his life... She is wearing nothing
but Reebok running shoes and a sign around her neck that reads, 'If you
catch me you can have me'. Well, he's out the door after her like a shot.
This girl is in excellent shape and he does his best, but no such luck. So for
the next four days, the same routine happens with him gradually getting in
better and better shape. Much to his delight on the fifth day when he weighs
himself, he discovers that he has lost another 20 lbs. as promised. He decides
to go for broke and calls the company to order the 7-day/50 pound program 'Are
you sure?' asks the representative on the phone. 'This is our most
rigorousprogram.''Absolutely,' he replies, 'I haven't felt this good in
years.'The next day there's a knock at the door; and when he opens it he finds
a huge muscular guy
standing there wearing nothing but pink running shoes and a sign around his
neck that reads, 'If I catch you, your ass is mine.' He lost 63 pounds that
week.

He plays over here in Holland all the time, with H&H, to huge outdoor audiences.
They are well aware who he is, and people take their metal very seriously here.
Did you know Angus Young is married to a Dutch girl and lives in Southern Holland?
