I was going through the polls section yesterday and found a poll that put Strange Highways against Angry Machines. Someone on that thread referred to these albums as "Dio's worst" and while it's hard to argue that about Angry Machines, Strange Highways is one of his best and most raw albums ever. I then got to thinking about how disappointed i've always been in Killing The Dragon and how i've always thought it was Dio's worst album ever. On Strange Highways, we got an angry Dio, one who just left Black Sabbath, full of passion. On Angry Machines, we at least get Dio trying something new. However, on Killing The Dragon, we get nothing. The album sounds tired, boring, and strained, not to mention the fact that the majority of the songs on the album (Guilty, Throw Away Children, Cold Feet, Before The Fall, Rock & Roll) are just plain awful. I'd rather hear Big Sister from Angry Machines played a 100 times over than sit through one of those songs just once. Plus, the songs besides those ones are simply okay - there's not one song where i think "man, this is AWESOME." Now, i know there will be lots of disagreement from people on here, but I think it's a shame that perhaps Ronnie's most emotional and powerful work, Strange Highways, is ignored and ridiculed while a steaming turd like Killing The Dragon is always talked about so positively.

Controversial post Shocked Laughing
I am not a great fan of KTD either, the songs are great and Ronnie's vocal performance is the dog's bollocks[ps.. this means its Excellent Exclamation ]
But I do not like the guitar sound or tone ,its far to light for me thats really my only complaint.
Don't worry about there being a disagreement with other fans,we are allowed to have different opinions but I do ask folks to remember to have respect for each other. Wink

I have neither Angry Machines or Lock Up the Wolves but from what I've heard about them I think I'd like them.

Killing the Dragon definitely doesn't rank high with me either and I think I'd agree with your statement.

this may not be as controversial as what you said but Master of the Moon has the most replay value for me. I find KtD and Magica boring, I'm not at all saying they're bad albums, I just have no desire to listen to them anymore and often times skip over their tracks.

it's very loosely a concept album, without the Magica Story at the end I think it would be hard to tie all the songs together. But I don't know, I still like the album I just can't listen it over and over.

maybe it's just a phase Confused
haha

I think another reason for liking Master of the Moon more is it does have a Doom Metal feel to it,I am not saying its Doom Metal but with its slow, heavy and eliciting tone ...I just love it.
I think some of Craig's best guitar work is on this cd.

Master Of The Moon is my second favourite DIO album without question. I love it!

Angry Machines is on my top 5 of DIo albums. MOTM is not, and I do prefer KTD to it! Because the title track is so awesome!

The songs on KTD are just overral pretty weak, especially lyrically... definitely not some of his best... but not worst by any stretch

musically I dont have a problem with it.

I love Killing The Dragon, perhaps not Dio at it's absolute best, but it still has some killer tracks, and if you're going to call it a steaming turd, I'd say it's a golden one.

(My least favourite Dio album is Strange Highways, never heard Angry Machines though).

I would question your sanity as other fans do not like the albums you like and think of them as steaming turds that do not hold up to things in the past.

It may be your least favorite album but other fans may like it and not the one you like. There are many fans who do not like the Tracy G era and consider all of it to be crap. There are many fans who do not like Master of the Moon and consider it crap as it being too slow and plodding. Would you feel those were fair assessments and not take offense to that? If you do not think it is fair and take offense then perhaps you should think about your word choice better.

1) Thanks for the sermon (NOT)

2) I still question the sanity of ANYONE who prefers Killing The Dragon over Strange Highways and DOESN'T like Master Of The Moon. These people are probably the same people who think Nevermet is an awesome band - rolls eyes-

Thank GOD i joined the Iron Maiden forum, where they let a lot more things go and i have SUCH a better time.

I don't see the point to that post, you just turned a perfectly good topic bad.

I simply gave you advice but if you want to be a dick about it then I can hit the ban button if you prefer then you can run back to the Iron Maiden forum and cry about it.

I am sorry that as a moderator of this forum I ruined your fun by calling you on calling one particular album a steaming turd which was your word choice. I did not say you had to like it but simply respect that others may prefer it over the albums you like. They may question your sanity to which I do right now as you make this lame challenge over your lack of tolerance.

A small request to which you are whining about. If that upsets you then let me know because I can accommodate your wishes over your intolerance and give you something real to whine about.
