|

Now here is a question for you. If Dio were to bring out an album of covers tunes by other acts,
Question 1, what tracks would you like on it?
Question 2, what tracks would you expect to be on it?
At first glance it looks like the same question. To put another way what songs do you think ronnie would put on it and what would you like on it.
Ronnie has done a few covers over the years, Welcome to my nightmare, Dream on, Aqualung, Great balls of fire, Black dog and behind blue eyes to name but a few. So its not like he has only ever done original stuff. |

Well a lot of covers are going around of this song..
recently Whitesnake,Glenn Hughes and Joe Lynn Turner and I assume in guitar riffs even Ritchie Blackmore himself still cuts loose..the song?"BURN"
I'd also like to hear his version of Blue Oyster Cult's

Ten Songs Ronnie should cover (if he did a cover album)
1. Billion Dollar Babies (A. Cooper)
2. Freezing Moon (Mayhem)
3. Sympathy For the Devil (Rolling Stones)
4. One Bourbon One Scotch One Beer (J. Lee Hooker)
5. Hey Joe (J. Hendrix)
6. Caeser's Palace (Morbid Angel)
7. Breaking the Law (Judas Priest)
8. The Evil That Men Do (Iron Maiden)
9. All We Are (Warlock)
10. Stairway to Heaven (Led Zepplin) _________________ Chase the horizons, catch the illusion

I'm not sure what he would choose personally but I'd love hear him put his stamp on:
When a Blind Man Cries - Deep Purple
Sign of the Cross - Iron Maiden
Born Again - Black Sabbath
Black Dwarf and/or Witches - Candlemass
Devils Stomp - Badlands
Bad For Good - Jim Steinman
Eyes of the World - Rainbow
In The Morning - Halford
Sin City - AC/DC
God of Thunder - Kiss
Dead Babies - Alice Cooper |

I would have no interest in Dio doing a cover album and would likely not buy it, it would be disappointing. _________________ "when I heard the voice, said you got the choice, the hammer or the nail" |

I would like a cover album but some of these songs just aren't right for ronnie. Stuff like Iron Maiden I don't think we could so as well, as it's not what hes used too _________________

The Blaze era songs suit the style Ronnie sings in, a few Bruce songs too, Hallowed Be thy name, NOTB, Powerslave.
Typical Maiden songs don't suit him so for that I agree. |

what evidence do you have to suggest that?
Dio's versions of both Alice Cooper's 'Welcome To My Nightmare' and Aerosmith's 'Dream On'
I think both far surpass the originals. |
