Who Should Be The Current DIO Guitarist???

I'd be happy with either: Craig understands what Dio is about, and whatever you may say in comparison to Doug, he'd still a blinding player; Doug is technically a better player (although I'd argue only because he's got a more fluid style) but he's got a more-bluesy-less-metal sound.
If having Doug in Dio means we can't have Doug in Whitesnake, I'd rather have Goldy in Dio. Doug's playing suits WS a little more than Dio. However, if Mr Coverdale doesn't start doing some new stuff, then I'd prefer to see Doug's talents put to use in an ongoing band like Dio. Why not have both guys in Dio?

Goldy! Goldy has a very special place in my heart as the gutarist for Dio. There is much history with Goldy & it's something I can't ignore.

I agree ,Craig Goldy is still the best fit for Dio .

I think Doug is a great player but I too think Graig is the one for Dio if just choosing between these two.For me it would be a horrible shock if Doug would leave whitesnake.. I mean he's born to be a snake!!! Very Happy

I had not really heard of Aldrich before Killing the Dragon but after hearing his playing, I know who he is NOW! Does anyone know the story with Goldy's injury? If he's able to recover, Goldy DEFINETLY belongs in DIO. I think his style fits the DIO sound perfectly!

yes, its all very well saying craig fits DIO perfectly, BUT he is'nt much good to Ronnie if he is unreliable, don't forgrt this is the second time something has happened and craig has pulled out of things both times doug came in and saved the day.....DIO need a good guitarist who the band can rely on...

Of course, you could also same for Craig...it seems he came in to save the day when Doug left to go rejoin Whitesnake.

Look, I don't know what makes a good technical guitar player, and I am not some music study. But I do know how I feel when listening to the different musicians. And when Craig plays, I can "feel" it more. That is not to say that Doug isn't an awesome guitarist, I just prefer Craig.

As far as Craig's injury...there is the possibility of carpel tunnel, and maybe some arthritis. Carpel tunnel is caused by repeated stress on an area, primarily the wrist and hand. Like, perhaps, 20 years of hard guitar playing? So to call him unreliable, or fault him for that, just seems a bit harsh.

Doug will be awesome, just as Craig was. But in my heart of hearts, I still believe it is Craig that belongs up there.

It would break my heart to choose...so i choose both...yeah...Twin axe attack...this would be a whole new ball game for the Dio camp...and I would love to hear/see Craig & Doug Duell it out with each other on stage!!! I think this approach would Amazing!!!
