Personally I really just can't get into post-Dio Rainbow, I blantantly just don't like their sound or music on the albums that came after 1978. And have never really appreciated JLT as a singer with Rainbow or other... I can't STAND Purple's 'Slaves and Masters' album... However, he does have a point about him being probably the rightful man for the job to reunite with Rainbow in terms of the bands success etc. Despite the earlier years are heralded as being (I think) the best, although I'm speaking as a RJD fan not as a Rainbow fan... but Rainbow did step into the commerical spotlight after the Dio years and so major Rainbow fans perhaps would be disappointed to only hear RJD tunes if there was to be a reunion therefore JLT is probably more suited...
Although it doesnt bother me that their isnt a Rainbow reunion, I'm quite overjoyed to hearing Dio pull out these great songs without Ritchie Blackmore's ego taking up the stage and spending an hour doodling on his guitar. |

If Ronnie was not in the poll....who would you choose for a Rainbow reunion?
Graham Bonnet
Joe Lynn Turner
Doogie White
I would still not pick Joe Lynn Turner...anything after Ronnie James Dio in Rainbow it will always be Graham Bonnet for me. |

I think I'd have to go with Joe Lynn Turner if Ronnie wasn't in the poll. He'd also make most sense considering their success.
I've never really like Graham Bonnet much but I would't mind seeing Turner front them. More than Ronnie in some respects because I'd prefer him to carry on with Iommi.
Haven't heard enough of Doogie White to have a real opinion on him. Like what I've heard though. |

| I think that real Rainbow is with Dio, and if they should reunite Dio should be a lead vocal there is no doubt about it. Lets be real the best albums are first there ones they are all classics !!!!!!!!! |

Bonnet may have done only 1 album but Joe Lynn Turner does not even come close to anything like ''Eyes of the World''
The greatest Rainbow song ever after the Dio era of course! |
I agree. In fact, I believe that at least 50% of "Down To Earth" was better than anything Joe Lynn Turner and Doogie White have ever done, period.
"Down To Earth" rocks hard, almost through the entire cd. Can't say that much of most of the latter day Rainbow stuff. In fact, I can't think of even one song by Turner or White that rocks like the most banging tracks on "Down To Earth".
Just my opinion. _________________ Catch the Rainbow |

I do like the cd....Straight Between the Eyes with Turner but mostly becoz of the way Blackmore plays on the songs "Eyes of Fire" & "Tearin' Out My Heart"
Would be interesting to hear DIO sing the song ''Eyes of the World''
And instead of Blackmore on guitar...we could have Schenker.
This would be my dream cover song |

Sigh. Michael Schenker on guitar. You're after my heart! I'm still working with Graham Bonnet on my own project, he's already sung two of my songs. Got four more four him getting recorded as we speak. _________________ Catch the Rainbow |

I'm a Dio/Rainbow/Graham Bonnet/Black Sabbath/Heaven and Hell/Deep Purple fanatic.
I always felt that Ritchie Blackmore made just as big a mistake losing Graham from Rainbow as he did firing Ronnie. I got the impression from Graham that he was quite comfortable singing the Man on the Silver Mountain, Catch the Rainbow, Stargazer, and Eyes of the World stuff. I would have loved to have seen that line up progress with Graham.
If anyone doubts Graham Bonnet's songwriting prowess, check out the writing he did on Michael Schenker Group's Assault Attack. That album is even better than Down To Earth and pretty much blows away the Alcatrazz material. _________________ Catch the Rainbow

As much as I love Ron, Joe Lynn was in the band when they had their greatest success and radio hits.
Ronnie busy with other things - LET JOE ROCK!!! _________________ Bass guitarists hold it all together. |
