The first time I saw Dio was on the Last in Line tour at Red Rocks in 83,later I would see the Sacred Heart Tour, and Heaven and Hell Last year. I noticed the progression of the music. I recently found a copy of "Master Of The Moon" a great disc if not underated, but this brings me to my thought. When Dio releases his next new project will it be the same metal music he has championed Evil or Very Mad , or maybe a new approach like the harder metal of today's bands like Killswitch or Bullet for my Valentine, maybe industrial. Question I love the old stuff,I am an old fan,but even Iron Maiden has branched out without losing their sound,or identity. I will always love Dio and whatever he releases.
Just a thought.

You are right my friend, i also like the old stuff more. I personally think that if Ronnie record a new album with the Heaven & Hell dudes, it will sound more like the old days metal. I don't think that any of the current line up will ask for new metal, industrial Exclamation sound Shocked.

As about the harder metal sound, the last tour of Heaven & Hell was pretty much Heavy Metal, don't you think ??

Don't forget that from the 80s, golden years of metal, until now several things have changed. I think almost all the bands from that era sound much more heavier now (mostly live concerts) than their studio albums

I have mixed feelings towards MoTM...
Although it's a great album it's too...heavy.I'd much rather see an attempt to bring back Dio's older sound.
I give it a four out of five.
The album cover,on another subject,is cool-
But it doesn't have Murray Evil or Very Mad

I have similar feelings about this album. It's great, heavy, good lyrics, cover etc. But when I listen to it from beginning to end I feel that something is missing......some good old-school rocker. Some fast song to bang your head Wink

i liked master of the moon, but i agree something was missing in the album

i think the temp needs to be raised a little more, the songs sometimes become to slow and plodding

I can see where you're coming from about this. We probably can never tell what Dio will do for his next album. But I know that Dio will stay him/themselves and not follow what everyone else in the industry is doing. Besides, I don't see why Dio, a freakin' metal pioneer, would take an apporach like these so called "harder metal" bands like KSE or BFMV. Dio will continue to do his own thing.

The best aspect off 'Master of the Moon' is that it has a killer groove. That's haeavy and dark but still damn catchy.
Not a masterpiece album but it's very good with two classic songs in it, 'One More for the Road' and 'I Am'. These songs are worth of the back catalogue, IMO.

Personally I find Craigs tone both on record and live too thin - which brings down the heaviness a bit. Also Craig tends to be a much slower player.........Not one who likes to bemoan anything Dio does - I love the man (I have done since I was 7 and I'm now 38!) but Craig has always been a weak link for me.
