I'm surprised there's no topic here already but anyway.
The best band ever for sure, not necessarilly alyways my favourite but they were just in a world of their own. Still going strong too:

Queen + Paul Rodgers have recorded a new single, "Say It's Not True," to commemorate World AIDS Day on Saturday (Dec. 1). The track, Queen's first studio collaboration with Rodgers, will be available as a free download from the band's Web site.

I think the thing with Paul Rodgers is great, he's no Freddie but he doesn't try to be either. The live album was excellent and the single sounds great too. I'm hoping the album will be released sometime next year, I'm sure it'll be great.

To commemorate World AIDS Day (Saturday, 1st of December), Queen with Paul Rodgers, through the world campaign 46664 HIV AIDS of Nelson Mandela, will offer completely free from their site the new recording of the song “Say It’s Not True”

This song which is a composition of the drummer, Roger Taylor, made its debut in November 2003 in the concert that it was the beginning of the campaign for the 46664.
In the tour of Queen with Paul Rodgers last year and the year before, Taylor was singing every night this acoustic song.

This new recording, that it is available for download, is very different from the previous live versions of the song, as the other three main band members also sing (Brian May, Roger Taylor, Paul Rodgers) and another difference is that the song is much more “electric”

So until the new album of the band comes out(where it is not sure that the “Say It’s Not True” will be on), you can enter the http://www.queenpluspaulrodgers.com/ , follow the links and enjoy the first normal recording that has the name of Queen after the, 10 years before, album "No-One But You (Only The Good Die Young)".

I just downloaded it now and its good so far, quite slow but obviously thats the purpose. I love this version of the band too, as Paul Rodgers is one of my favourite singers, and i like Queen. The live album's awesome too! Cheers for the info Magica Dragon

I was gonna post this news myself....but I just could not do it,I am fan of Queen with Freddie...and after seeing Queen perform twice with Freddie...I just can't think of Paul Rodgers as the singer.
I adore his work with Free and Bad Company but when talking about Queen it will always be Freddie for me....I just can't get into Paul Rodgers singing Queen. Crying or Very sad
I have said a 1000s times....the only person...I can bear to sing Queen songs is Robbie Williams.
I also have got to mention without John Deacon in the band...sorry but this is not Queen Crying or Very sad
Just think of Dio without Ronnie or Simon in the band that would not make the band Dio,Just think of Motorhead without Lemmy or Whitesnake without Coverdale....sometimes no matter how good the vocalist....you just can't replace them.....its only happened once that I can remember....when Ronnie replaced Ozzy.

Well I haven't heard Robbie Williams singing Queen (I imagine he's very good) but I have to say George Michael did an absoloutely superb job at the tribute concert.
The thing I like about this is that it's plus Paul Rodgers, it draws a line between the two incarnations for me. And also it makes Rodgers seem more like an addition rather than a replacement. Besides I'd rather that Brian and Rodger were still out there making music, even wihout John Deacon.
Anyway it's a great tribute to Freddie. And also I think Paul Rodgers is a class singer.

I like the fact that they call themselves "Queen & Paul Rodgers" and not just Queen, which shows that as Magica Dragon said, he isn't replacing Freddie, more like an addition.

Edit because there's 2 Magicas in this thread lol

Have you seen the Return of The Champion dvd HM? It is great...

Alright, Paul Rodgers is not Freddie, but Freddie is dead, that is a period in history that will never come back...

Maybe Queen would be more like the "old" Queen with Robbie Williams at the vocals, but obviously that's not the direction May and Taylor want to take it...
As for Deacon, it is his own choice not being in the band...Maybe it makes the band less true to the original sound, but maybe he wouldn't have fitted to well in with the sound they now will have with Rodgers in the band..??

I like the Queen/Rodgers version, and I will give them a chance...
The new album will determine my opinion of whether Rodgers in Queen is a success, or a failure..

This is the same thing as it was with Sabbath, some only likes the Ozzy years, some only likes the Dio years, and some likes it all...

I like both the Mercury era and the Rodgers era, but off course, there will never be another Freddie Mercury, but I think Rodgers is fully aware of this, and tries no to walk in Freddies footsteps...

I think Queen will have a more bluesy style with Rodgers.., but still it will sound just fantastic...

To me it's quite strange: Rodgers is really good. So are May and Taylor, but QUEEN will be remembered as a certain band with Freddie on vocals. Period.

I really want to be fair to these guys. I like Queen the way it WAS. But it's bizarre to hear Paul now taking over. Zepp sans Plant? Stones sans Jagger? Free sans...Rodgers? MY ANSWER IS NO WAY!

I know the bottom line is playing some good music, making fun and money at the same time.

But in a very similar situation, certain bands played under other monikers: Bruce and Baker did not bring back the name CREAM when they recorded an album with Moore around 1994. It was simply called Bruce - Baker - Moore. Same with Plant, Jones and Page. Bonham is dead? OK. The flight of Led Zep came to an end in 1980. Newest story? The guys from the band Kansas are currently working on an album, but Steve Walsh is not serving as a vocalist. Is it going to be yet another Kansas release? No. They have already chosen a different name for the project. Ad to this list jazz rockers from Collosseum. After 1587th regrouping, change in the line up, they decided to alter their moniker to COLLOSSEUM 2.

And Dio - Iommi - Appice - Butler? Heaven And Hell. And everybody knows who they are, and everybody is happy.

May - Taylor - Rodgers - now, that sounds good, right?

According to VH1 Classic Radio, singer Paul Rodgers seems to have amicably parted ways with QUEEN after spending a lot of time with them the past couple years.

"Well, you know, we did a world tour, we did a second tour of Europe and the Far East and Eastern Europe and we did a studio album and I think we're kind of leaving it there gently," Rodgers told VH1 Classic Radio. "It's out there for us to do things in the future if there's something, a huge charity say like Nelson Mandela, I'm always open to that, but I think we are pretty much done."

Next month, Paul Rodgers and the rest of BAD COMPANY will reunite for a tour. The trek, however, is just ten dates, leading many to question why it is so short.

"Well, you know, I've travelled and I'm not worried about [the swine flu and] stuff like that," he said. "I usually find, to be honest with you, that most of those things are exaggerated way out of proportion. You know, I'm not afraid to travel, it's just I want to be able to focus more on waking up in one place and working on music, I think really, and that's really the reason. I think next year I'll probably be touring my brains out."

Fans can see Paul and the rest of BAD COMPANY when the group kicks off their reunion tour on June 20 in Charlotte, North Carolina.

I think Queen is one of the bands closest to perfection. Freddie will always be my favourite male-singer, and One Night at the Opera is one of the greatest all-time music masterpieces. Jazz is weird, and Mustapha is one of the craziest songs Queen could play... I love the energy Freddie used to have on stage, you could see he was born to be on stage. I'm sorry I was born to late, I woud have loved watching him perform...

I have never been a fan of Queen myself. Quality musicians but not my style of music....oh well to each his/her own.
