Like Holy Diver and The Last in Line I found it hard not to like any song in this effort.
I've read some very brutal reviews of this, as Dio describes this, "very strong effort."
This got me thinking, about the meaning of being a fan of any artist.
Some people will listen to music that means something, others because it sounds good, so I guess I can sympathize with those who felt disappointed by SH.
For me all the fun is decyphering [did I mizzpell?] the meanings behind the lyrics.
This album is great in my book, and I encourage other member to chip in, so we can discuss and better understand our views.

Sacred Heart has received some brutal reviews? Really? That's a shame. Dio's first three albums are all classics, to me.
To each their own, but I think SH has some really strong songs- some as strong as anything from the first two Cd's: "Like The Beat of a Heart," "Another Lie," "Hungry For Heaven," "Just Another Day," "King Of Rock 'N Roll..."
What are some of the complaints about this one? |

I really like SH alot, especially the titlesong and "like the beat of a heart". They would make it into the "top-twenty songs" from the R.J.D:s "Dio-Era" in my opinion =) Classic Metal! The lyrics in the title track SH has a special meaning for me.
Ps. "Top-Twenty"..i first wrote top-ten but then i started thinking and there is so many songs i really really like so i cant squeeze all of the immortal music into any sort of list.. _________________ Runnin´with the wolfpack, feel like im never coming back! |

I've always been a SH fan. I'm actually not crazy about "Hungry for Heaven" but I like the rest of the album. _________________ It's not easy being green,.... |

I can see how some people would like some albums more than others, but to give DIO a bad review? I know I've heard a lot of people say bad things about Angry MAchines. Not really BAD things but more of it's "thier least favorite." But thats what made me buy it. To see what all the fuss was about. I love that album, but I guess I love them all. _________________ Luke Offield

I'm not surprsied that the Sacred Heart LP has recieved such uneven reviews.
Here are the problems:
A. The songs that drew the most focus being that they were singles were very very pop, and fairly weak. RNR Children and Hungry for Heaven simply do not have any depth.
B. The production was decidely weak. It has no bite. And while I do not hold it against Ronnie for trying to draw more on the radio audience, he has to take the fall for not balancing it more and keeping his true fans content.
C. Sacred Heart as a song, is simply too long and repetitive. Personally, I like it, but when you compare it to HD and LIL it again comes up as weak.
D. Shoot Shoot. Do I need to go on?
Here are the strengths:
Everything else. Some really fantastic songs on here. We all love Like the Beat of a Heart etc. but sadly there are just as many songs that are no where near as good.
Sacred Heart for me was (at the time) a 5/5 but time has revealed a 4/5 and I feel as though I'm being kind. |

Generally speaking, I like Sacred Heart. I think one of the knocks on it is that the songs are too poppy. Personally, I can't stand Hungry For Heaven, and I could do without Shoot, Shoot. Other than that, the album rocks. Better than Angry Machines and Lock Up The Wolves, but not as strong as Holy Diver, Last In Line, and Magica.. _________________ Like The Beat Of A Heart... |

SH is not among my fave DIO albums. I agree it is too poppy (Hungry for heaven, Shoot shoot). But it does have great tracks like RnR Children, Like the beat of a heart and Sacred heart.
To me the album pales compared to the two albums before AND the mighty Dream Evil after it.
Oh, and the cover with Denzil is awful...the least scary dragon ever (even compared to the she-dragon of Shrek ) _________________ "They'll tell you black is really white. The moon is just the sun at night. It's Heaven & Hell!" |

I don't like this album and it's not because some man sayed that this is no cool. i hate two last tracks. Sound is for MTV in that year (1985) and overall i think it's for kids. i love many songs from it but overall i don't like this album _________________ One day the the sun will die and night will crawl ; - )

That albums is the one with wizard hands holding the crystal with the dragon and heart inside? and wasn't there an inscription in Latin running around the border of the album?
I would say from that album Another Lie was the one I enjoyed the most. _________________ Hanging from the cobwebs in your mind
