What can I say that hasn’t been said before? Probably not much, but I’ll at least continue spreading the word. Last night’s TSO show at the Q in Cleveland was absolutely unbelievable. I have seen the show Multiple times, and when I say it just keeps getting better, I’m not just blowing smoke up anybody’s you know what. Some things truly stand out though. As most know the crowd at a TSO show is probably the most diverse crowd for any form of entertainment. To say that they range from Seven to Seventy would get you in the ball park, but I took my In-Laws, who are both Seventy Three, and they were not even close to being the oldest people there.

One of the high points for me was the Heavy Metal style Drum solo in the middle of the show. First off it’s a Christmas show, and who in their right mind would think that they could pull off a Drum Solo at a Christmas show? TSO that’s who. The greatest thing about it is that the audience buys in and rolls with it. Most of these folks have never been to a Metal show, and would never think about going to one. However, they are sucked into the grand spectacle of Metal without even realizing it. Its just amazing to see these people react in such a positive manner towards something the would normally turn their noses up at. If TSO has accomplished one thing, it is crossing the age barrier in music. Their songs are timeless and can be enjoyed by all.

I could go on and on about the guitar work involved with TSO, and I have at different times. It is no secret that Alex Skolnick is my Favorite Guitar player, and I always watch in amazement as he plays. The great thing about this line up is that Chris Caffery ,an excellent guitarist in his own right, compliments Alex as much as Alex compliments Chris. The continuity between them is incredible. I do want to point out to Mr Caffery, that I am originally from Detroit, so if you think you snuck that Cat Scratch Fever riff by me you did not. My son and I both heard it and it put a smile on my face.

The greatest thing about last night’s show for me though was the discovery of something/someone new. As I left the arena, I couldn’t wait to find out more about Anna Phoebe. Her energy was incredible, and I have to say she fits with this group so well. I believe she gets it, and is a huge part of the show because of that.

All in all, I took ten newbies to the show, and they are devoted fans now. I cant wait till next year!!!!
